Helping homeless veterans/formerly homeless veterans.
As many of you know, the Philadelphia Veterans Multi-Service & Education Center is a soft spot of mine. Good people and a good cause.
Now, all of us have the chance to help not just the veterans at PVMSEC but veterans at several cities.
I received this email from the client director at the center.
HGTV is having a contest for January and February. The involved cities will get at least some money for homeless/formerly homeless veterans, to help them start a new life.
Admittedly, what follows below is written from a Philadelphia viewpoint, but read the project for yourself.

Locally in Philadelphia , the American Legion Housing for Homeless Veterans Corporation (HHVC) has partnered with the group “Rebuilding Together Philadelphia” (RTP), http://rebuildingphilly.org/ in conjunction with the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) to provide a proposal and identify recommendations for physical plant improvements to the local homeless veterans’ facility in Philadelphia ’s Frankford section operated by HHVC.
With the acceptance of the proposal, Philadelphia has been included with eight (8) other nominated cities for facility improvement grants totaling $115,000. $40,000 will be awarded for improvements to the two (2) facilities deemed most worthy (based solely on an on-line national citizens poll) and $5,000 will be awarded to the seven (7) other nominated cities based on the merits of their proposals.
Among the nominees, there will be no losers and the winners will be the veterans who are residing in the facilities identified in need of support.
OK. Something I THINK we CAN agree on.....
