I can't figure out why this reminds me of this, but it does (PSM's armed bear, not the thread in general): I interviewed a guy yesterday who was telling me how he had done some anti-prop 8 stuff because he had gay roommates. One of whom refused to do anything, not because she agreed with prop 8, but because she shouldn't HAVE to fight for equal treatment, because, you know, straight people don't have to fight for THEIR marraige rights, so why should she? The interviewee said this with admiration. I asked him if this roommate locked the apartment door when she went out, since people SHOULDN'T come in and steal their stuff, so why should she HAVE to lock her door?
