In these parts, kids get to trick or treat longer, because parents won't let them do it after dark.

Some people argued that pushing the time change back would increase trick or treating since more kids could do it before it got dark.

Granted, it's been 19 years, but we never used to trick or treat BEFORE dark! No kids were out before twilight....

In these parts, kids get to trick or treat longer, because parents won't let them do it after dark.

In our neighborhood it seems that there's a generally agreed-upon window for trick-or-treating, usually between 6PM and 8PM, no matter the lighting conditions. This year since it's on Wednesday we won't be home because of church, but our church will be doing something it calls "Trunk or Treat", in which members are encouraged to decorate their trunks (not too scary) and children from the church and a nearby homeless shelter will come by and get treats. There will also be games in our fellowship hall (the usual stuff - bobbing for apples, etc.).

Kids in the neighborhood usually start at dusk and go until about 9:00. About 9:30 teenagers who barely have costumes, trick or treat by car. I used to give them my excess candy, but they are quite rude, so instead I send the candy into Jeff's work.
