RIP Nortel

#1 Post by etaoin22 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:38 pm

maybe. Chapter 11 at least. Still number one manufacturer of telephone equipment in North America, and at one time overwhelming tech success from relatively humble start IIRC Bell Northern Research and Northern Electric in Ottawa, Ontario. Still 4000 jobs there, as of today.

Wires are so twentieth century.

The only "good" thing is that Nortel has in fact been on life support since the LAST recession, and it is a little surprising it made it this far. At the peak of the tech boom, it made up something like 35% of the entire value of the Toronto Stock Exchange, but that value went up the spout a long time ago.
