Re: He uses his tea bags three times
My microwave is at least 15 years old, & was given to me used by a neighbor. Who knows how long they had it before me. When a housemate moved in with their own, I resisted deposing mine, because I didn't want to be the person who broke housemate's microwave. Housemate, of course, turned out to be housemate who broke lots of my stuff, & lied about it too. When they moved out, they threw out their own microwave. Which, since I knew it hadn't been used in 5 years, I rescued. Knowing them, I am actually afraid of it. They picked all of their stuff that they could out of the trash. But if mine dies, I test theirs with a fire extinguisher ready.

My parents had a refrigerator that they got from my dad's parents.tlynn78 wrote:I bought a microwave at a yard sale 23 years ago. 6 years ago, I gave it to my brother. He's still using it. I think that explains a great deal about my brother, come to think of it...
t.
The refrigerator was made in 1939.
They kept it until 1994, when my sister bought them a new one as a present.
When the handle to open it broke (sometime in the 80s), they kept it shut with bungee cords.
So if anyone can beat using a refrigerator that was 55 years old...
My father is still heating his home with a furnace that was built in the 1950s.
