We need lots of cans of cranberry to go alongside the homemade. Mini-me will sometimes attempt to eat a whole can by himself. I prefer the homemade, but I won't make it, so if s-i-l doesn't come through, we get canned. And sometimes the store brand.

My Christmas Day is at the in-laws. I get Christmas Eve. I will gladly trade the day with the in-laws for a day of solitude, but the kids would be bummed, so I suck it up and go.........
I agree. Let's kick his wizened ass. I don't know if it's wizened, but it would be after we kicked it.

We have had a traditional can of cranberry sauce sitting in the pantry forever. We haul it out every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas and then we put it back. No one likes cranberry sauce.

This year I made the fresh stuff for Thanksgiving. Nobody ate it except me and it sucked, too.

Therefore, we will buy another can of cranberry sauce and inaugurate it next year, since we're having ham this Christmas.
Well, then

I've got a good idea.

Let's find the ex-boyfriend and throw cans of cranberry sauce at him.

All kidding aside (I was kidding?), volunteering is a great idea.

I did it a couple of years when I was freelancing in DC and couldn't get back to Philadelphia for Christmas (because I was working retail to make sure the rent was paid and couldn't get off work December 26 :D ).

Makes you feel good and, if you can make some little kid smile when you do funny voices, it's all worth it.

OK, it's worth it, even if you can't make some kid smile when you do funny voice. But you knew what I meant.

I'm not wasting perfectly good cranberry sauce on his wizened ass.

Homemade cranberry sauce is so easy - cranberries, sugar, fresh orange juice and
a cinnamon stick. That's it. It is much better than the "jelly in a can".

Well, it actually doesn't HAVE to be cranberry sauce. I was just trying to keep in the holiday spirit.

It can be anything, actually -- large cans of peeled tomatoes, a fine base for spaghetti sauce, would be particularly good.

AND, in keeping with the volunteering theme, we could collect the cans after we've thrown them at him and give them to a food bank.

Fresh produce would work, too. Annie has acquired a fine collection of apples by serving as a target for Evil Squirrel.
