Uly!

USC has a rather nasty player in the guy who hit Griffin in the nuts. He is a mofo.

Pardon my English.

Is he known for that sort of stuff?
Well, then

I just got home after going out to dinner, where I encountered approximately eight SC guys, plus at least one known pro scout who wasn't with them, but schmoozed them briefly but intensely. I think the SC guys probably were coaches and/or managers, rather than current players. One of them was tallest human being I've ever seen in person. I'm guessing six-foot-seventeen, minimum.

So, Uly, why don't you go on road trips with the basketball team when they have such exotic destinations as my town?

I didn't watch the game (I don't think it was on tv here) but here's what the LA Times said about the incident:

Washington was ejected after officials huddled to see replays of his elbow striking Griffin below the waistline as the Trojans prepared to set up their offense.

"What do you think he said? 'I didn't do it,' " said Trojans Coach Tim Floyd, who didn't see the play happen live. "He's a freshman. He doesn't know that we film everything. But he's a good guy."

I'm not close to any of the players but as someone who sits right under the basket and sees things up close, there is a lot of crap that goes on between players. I'm not defending Washington and he may or may not have been provoked but of course there is no excuse for this kind of behavior.

As to the tall staff members, they were most likely Rudy Hackett (6' 10") and Dwayne Polee (6'8") both of whom played professionally. They are the tallest staff members. There is one player who is 7' (he's not very good) but our team is not that tall. Of course most of the players are 6'4"-6'6".
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

It wasn't his elbow that struck him. Unless his elbow is attached to his fist.

Thanks, Dan. I looked up both of their photos, and I dunno. Based on the width of the guy's shoulders, Polee seems more likely. I would have sworn in court the big guy I saw was taller than that, based on a comparison with my ginormous next-door neighbor, who is at least 6'5". Then again, I was sitting down -- not that my sitting (as compared to standing up) makes all that much difference in the level of my eyes.
