3-day growth
We have kind of an all-hands-on-deck ethos about certain things where I work. I like it in general, though it's sometimes tedious.
One of the things I like is recruitment. No matter how senior you are, you have to spend a few hours a week on it. My part is that I do interviews with entry-level people. The older I get, the younger the 23-year-olds look. It's crazy.
One of those things I think about as almost a cliche is that women's fashion trends change rapidly, but men's fashions are much more static.
Not true in my interviewing world. I'm thankful that I'm interviewing fewer and fewer men with facial piercings; the new ones are getting smarter and smarter about taking them out for the interview, which I think means they're smart enough to know tehy won't be wearing them at the office (or especially in public representing us!) either. And I'd much rather see a hole than a ring going around someone's lip. Or through their septum (yeesh).
But I've interviewed 3 men/boys in the last 2 days, and all 3 of them have had a 3-day growth. I wonder if this is the new thing?

When did the Faith video come out? I think it's kind of been a "thing" ever since then.ToLiveIsToFly wrote:We have kind of an all-hands-on-deck ethos about certain things where I work. I like it in general, though it's sometimes tedious.

Re: 3-day growth
To be frank, I often rock a 3-day growth, too. I, too, kind of hate shaving, but I gave up the goatee because I want the little guy to get to know my face. (Plus there was an AWFUL lot of grey in the goatee). I work at home 3-4 days a week, and I've taken to mostly only shaving on office days. As an experiment, I decided to see if shaving would be easier if it was an everyday activity. So I'm on my 5th consecutive day of shaving now, and Frankie gets to see my extremely lacerated face.littlebeast13 wrote:I only shave once a week (Before work on Fridays) because I absolutely hate doing it, so right now I have 6 day growth.....

But there's a big difference between how I look at home and how I'd look at a job interview. I suspect that if you were interviewing for a job, you'd shave that day.
It seems like a new thing to me that people are wearing 3-day growths to JOB INTERVIEWS while wearing SUITS AND TIES. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. None of the stubbly guys knocked my socks off with their interviewing skills, experience, etc.

I probably would. I might even make sure I had clean underwear on....

As longs as it's not dirty enough that the interviewer would actually notice...littlebeast13 wrote:ToLiveIsToFly wrote:To be frank, I often rock a 3-day growth, too. I shave twice a week. This is not a style choice, it's simple sheer and unadulterated laziness.
But I do shave before I have a meeting or interview of any kind.

I still remember when it used to take me about 3 to 4 weeks to have an appearance of a 3 day growth. Now it takes about 4 1/2 days.

And yes I do find it creepy that you remember whether or not I was clean shaven.

I thought you were supposed to see a doctor if it lasted more than four hours. <rim shot>ToLiveIsToFly wrote:But I've interviewed 3 men/boys in the last 2 days, and all 3 of them have had a 3-day growth. I wonder if this is the new thing?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.
