As I recall....

#1 Post by mrkelley23 » Thu Nov 27, 2008 6:57 am

Thanksgiving is one of the lightest posting days of the year. I'll contribute a post or two today, just to keep things rolling.

A very happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Ditto from the great Northeast.

Got our copies of "Alice's Restaurant" in the cars - GW is picking up my Mom, I'm picking up HS and GF. They're in two different directions, so two cars are needed. Driving to CT and the relatives, the turkey and enough dessert sugar to power a dozen kindergarten classes for a year, the start of my annual ten-pound holiday gain.

See you all later!
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Just put the turkey (with my requested bread stuffing--yum) in the oven and in half an hour I will go pick up the girls at the train station. (appears to be running a whole 5 minutes late :D )

Full menu:
turkey, dressing, snashed taters, gravy, winter squash, pettie peas, cranberry salad, homeade cloverleaf dinner rolls, relish tray, pumpkin and apple pie.

The girls will be shocked that I did not make my "cherry jello/banana/ice cream" salad.

Tomorrow leftovers will be Margaret's "Tijuana Turkey"---more yum!!!

We are heading south in a few hours - as far south as Westchester county!

I've got artichoke dip and brownies, ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce for the brownie sundaes!

Have a Thankful Thanksgiving everyone!

I'll be by later. I hope the traffic is not too bad. How long will I have to wait at the train crossing? Oh, and do I need my passport?

It doesn't have to be slow this year. We could have a five post minimum to keep things fun.

I think we've already beaten the recent Thanksgivings, but the olden days weren't all that quiet....

2000- 162
2001- 254
2002- 166
2003- 184
2004- 68
2005- 48
2006- 59

Can't give you a number for last year since this Bored doesn't have a daily post count feature. I don't know why.....

Rain here, and probably snow on the passes. Brr!

My friend Mary's older kid may not make it -- he was supposed to drive down from Denver but won't do it if too much snow.

I am headed to work in a few hours but it should be light, with 3 NFL games and a few other live events, some of which will be too late to meet our already-early Thursday night deadlines which could be even earlier for the holiday.

But first we are going across the hall to the neighbors' place for lunch. These are the neighbors who moved in last month...well, we moved them in because the guys with the truck had to unload and return to Michigan that night. So I called my dad, and a neighbor pastor helped, and 4 hours later we had everything off the sidewalk. They have a nice little girl and a very sweet cat, and the mom cooks. Some of what took so long to move them in was toting all her cookbooks....

Our turkey is cooking and things are on schedule. It rained last night. Emma just gave Zap a bath so he is happy. He really likes getting bathed weekly. Since we wash him in the shower, it's fairly easy to do.

I wish. Haven't had to carry a comb for many a year now.
