This allows the Gator Bowl to save itself the ignominy of being the biggest all time whore in bowl history. They were fully prepared to invite a 7-5 Notre Dame that hadn't beaten a winning team from a BCS conference all year and will probably lose to Southern Cal by 40-50 points. Now that Notre Dame is headed to 6-6 mediocrity, the Gator Bowl will reluctantly pass on them and the Irish will wind up playing a 7-5 MAC or WAC team in a game on ESPN2 three days before Christmas.

Unfortunately, on a day filled with real college football news, ESPN still chose to litter its broadcast with that gigantic waste of space Charlie Weis crying about how embarrassed he was. Here's a hint Charlie, ESPN and the other networks should be embarrassed at wasting our time by putting you on the air.

Still, congrats to Syracuse for giving us another opporunity to see that massive overgrown crybaby Weis blubber on television.
