11/21/08 WWTBAM -- Family Week Final Episode

#1 Post by TheConfessor » Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:58 pm

Is it just me, or did this family get the easiest stack in the past few seasons? And Ken is stepping on my turf when he comes on the show and answers questions about
Spoiler
potatoes, whether or not they are glowing.
They asked a grand total of seven questions on today's show. I hope that didn't take too much time away from all the chat. Previous seasons have averaged more than 18 questions per show.

More thoughts:
Spoiler
The family played pretty well, and at least they believed grandpa on the Roosevelt question, but mom should have gone with what she clearly already knew on the phenylalanine question, instead of asking the audience. That would have saved the audience for the potato question, which they should have gotten right, since it's common knowledge. That would have saved Ken for the Hard Rock question, which seemed pretty obvious. It would have left PAF and Double Dip for the $1 million question, but I guess we'll never know what might have been.

I had the same thought while watching.
Spoiler
They could have gotten the next Q right, too, if they had applied a bit of logical thought to the choices. Perhaps they were caught in the "it can't be the logical answer for this much money" trap.

In one nice change from previous families, granddad seemed to be the strongest player on the team. Mom was okay, but she seemed to be fixated on "Are you 100 percent sure?"

Imagine how thoroughly the Suchard Family would have annihilated that stack!

The
Spoiler
Hard Rock
question was easily gettable with a little common sense, but it was also an easy Google, unlike most "which of these is not" type questions.

The family played well but
Spoiler
Holy Smokes were those questions easy. And I'm a relatively unintelligent person and I would've needed no help until the Hard Rock. You guys have talked previously about stacks designed to give away money maybe for higher ratings. If there is such a thing then this has gotta be one of them...actually I prob. would've ATA on the potato question, but these weren't educated guess questions these were "knew the answer before any choices were up" questions down the line.
