America's Next Top Model - And the winner is...(spoilered)

#1 Post by secondchance » Thu Nov 20, 2008 5:05 pm

Spoiler
McKey
. Was she the best choice for winning this year?

Didn't think so till this last episode, then she somehow grew on me. It was really, really tight between
Spoiler
McKey and Sam.
I think either one would have made a great choice. It was also sad to see
Spoiler
Annaleigh
let go.

(spoilerized for general comments, in case someone has it recorded and hasn't watched it yet - IF anyone else watches!) Actually, MadameMeisha does...

Any thoughts?

I saw this last night -- for the only time this season. When I realized that they were going to give the title to the eventual winner instead of the beautiful girl, I remembered why I'd not bothered to watch so much any more.

I just don't get it. Clearly, I am not "high fashion." I can live with that.

Yeah. What network was this on? Was Cheryl Teigs in the running? Is McKey a dude or a chick? What happens to America's previous top model, and who was that?

Well... Cheryl Teigs was actually not in the running this year, BUT one of the aformentioned contestants, Sam, kinda looked like her before they chopped her hair off. (Cool note: Sam is a local girl, who just graduated H.S. with my daughter last year!) There was also an almost dead ringer for Cheryl a few seasons ago, can't remember her name. McKey's gender is debatable, but she claims to be a chick. They actually really did have a he/she this year, which probably stretched the rules just a bit. SHe had trouble keeping her thing tucked in during the water shots. The previous models all do really well, and the winning prize is a huge contract with Elite Modeling Agency, and gigs w/Cover Girl and Seventeen Magazine, and they show up here and there thoughout the next season's shows. Last year's winner was the first "plus size" gal to win. She looks a bit like Anna Nicole and is equally annoying.

So, tmi? :)

Since youtube has apparently been cracking down on all users who like to post my guilty pleasure shows, I haven't seen this yet. However, I already spoilered myself so I wasn't surprised. This show is such a joke and Tyra is unbalanced, to put it kindly, and yet I still have to watch it. I told someone in the green room before I taped that I hoped all of my BAM questions were Top Model related, because I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the show. I hate myself.

However, I liked McKey (but not her "name." Apparently it's really Brittney but Tyra made her change it.) I liked Annaleigh the most, but it's hard to say any of the winners do really well after the show. Some girls have said being on the show has actually made it harder to model in the real world. McKey is definitely a step up from Whitney and 10 steps up from the travesty that was Saleisha, but none of these girls really look like models.

Not at all. You left me craving for more, so I looked it up. Apparently, this show is on the CW network. I don't think I've ever watched anything on CW. I don't even know what channel it is on my TV. But I guess anyone who occasionally tries to answer trivia questions should know some basic info about the show.

I dunno, I disagree. I love the transition from the scraggly waifs that show up and the polished pros that result toward the end. It feeds my fix after "Extreme Makeover - Let's Surgically Restructure Someone's Appearance Edition" disappeared off the face of the earth.. oh, how I loved that show. Anyway, a lot of the episodes give a short update on previous contestants, and some are doing very well in Europe or have contracts w/various agencies. I agree that Tyra has become fairly unbalanced with a major superiority complex, but she's still amazingly gorgeous and sure knows how to put together a watchable show. Oh, BTW, they made McKey change her name cuz there were 3 Brittanys this season.

MM, you mentioned in chat that someone in the greenroom said you looked like one of the girls on a previous season... I've been trying to figure out which one, I'm thinkin' maybe Heather?

She said Heather, which was kind of funny to me because I always had said my sister looks a lot like Heather, but I didn't really think I did. I think in my case, it's the pale skin+dark hair+big nose+awkwardness.

There's also the slight possibility that you'll be able to appear on at least three Vh1 reality shows and end up bagging and landing a former child star more than twice your age. But not everybody is so lucky.

It's a crapshoot, really.
We, the HK Brigade, do hereby salute you, Marley, for your steadfast devotion to ontopicosity. Well done, sir!
