Having previously completed all three obedience courses, Lizbit was awarded her certificate from an additional "tricks" class today. She can give high fives, wave goodbye, bow, go "around" things, crawl, jump through a hoop (with her highest jump to date in today's class, because she knows how to peak), and dance on her hind feet. Even though this was the official graduation date, we are going to have class again next week to try to perfect the remaining skills that still elude the dogs. For Lizbit, this means another week to work on playing the piano with her paws (although she'll do it with her nose) and closing doors. Of course, she figured out all by herself how to lock the front door when I was outside.
I thought of a way to improve the dancing. We will work on her doing a doggie pirouette -- a complete turn while she is upright on her back feet. I think she can do it.
It's too bad I don't live in a place where she could audition for commercials or tv shows to put all of this to good use. Mostly, though, she likes to hang out with the other dogs and show off for anyone who happens to stop and watch the classes.
Annie is not impressed with the tricks, but she likes it when Lizbit practices, because both dogs get treats when Lizzle learns new things.

I think Letterman's show books "Stupid Pet Tricks" based on submitted tapes/DVDs.

The camera I have, but I wouldn't submit a tape to anything that films on either coast. It would be a long, long drive, but I don't intend ever to put any of my dogs on an airplane in the cargo hold. They all are too big to be permitted in the passenger section.Estonut wrote:

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
