If you truly, truly love something, any amount of money you can afford will prove to be a good investment.

You'll keep them for a long time, wear them whenever it's practical, and not be in any hurry to replace them.

I have tested this theory. It works.

I totally agree. A good pair of black dress sandals can be worn for a long time!

lb and I might be a touch offended that our support was not specifically required.

Well, except that the thud you heard earlier was both of us falling over in an attack of the vapours at the thought of spending $300 on a single pair of shoes!
Spoiler
I hear Ferragamo's are worth the money because one pair lasts forever. If that's the case here, I'm sure you'd have plenty of places to wear them in the future.

I am decidedly in the Cheap Shoes Camp, but while I would not buy those, I would wear them. They are classic and kinda Audrey Hepburn-ish with the little bows.

I heartily approve.

Okay, I poked my nose into this thread, and just had to give a guy's perspective. This guy's, anyway.

First, those are nice shoes. Now tell me what makes them worth $300? Other than the $100 that goes to Kate and the $150 that goes to the store's markup.

Second, and this is a sexist guy statement, men don't give a crap what women have on their feet. If it has a reasonable heel and shapes the leg pleasantly, that's good enough. Unless he has a shoe fetish, or is a sadist who likes towering heels so that his women have to stand on their toes, en pointe, for hours on end.

Third, and this is a cheap bastard statement, I have never paid more than $100 for a pair of shoes. Even the name brand dress ones I own. I will search for sales and frequent the discount houses and outlet stores before buying a new pair. I wear a large, hard-to-find size. I once passed by a table in Woolworth's piled with $2 sneakers, picked one up for the heck of it, found it was my size, and went diving into the pile to find its mate. Didn't matter that they were bright orange and looked like Bozo's castoffs. Just finding my size was enough. Even more important, they were only $2. It still bothers me to pay $40-$70 for what is still, for all the ergonomic studies and designers and engineering, just a pair of sneakers.

Footwear keeps my feet from being hurt when I walk on sharp objects or rough terrain. Guys don't look at another guy's shoes unless they're impressed because you just dropped a fifty-pound toolbox on your workboot toe and remained unhurt. Until I'm interviewing for some incredibly snooty and pompous job where someone will actually care what my shoes look like (since they'll see the rest of me first, that will likely forever remain a theoretical situation), they are utilitarian objects that let me get service in a restaurant as long as I keep my shirt on. If GW wants me to get something nicer than what I already own for a particular event, I will. That's as far as it goes.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

They didn't have them :(

I was totally prepared to do it, and they didn't have them even though it said online that they did. In fact, they had very little in the way of high end shoes, which is surprising, since I was in Nordstrom. I ended up with a pair that was $69 on clearance. Good price but nothing special. I'm very disappointed in Nordstrom!!!

And gsabc, I don't wear them for a man, I don't care if they don't notice, I wear them for myself! And to make other girls jealous!!

Sorry if I offended you Fanny!! But you hit it right on, I needed people who would be like $300, ah sure, do it!!!!

Now if only Nordstrom accepted Bed Bath and Beyond coupons...............

Here are the ones I ended up with...they look more casual online, when they're on you can't actually tell they're snakeskin, they just look shimmery which perfectly matches the bottom of my dress.

They are cheaper online so I will be going back to Nordstrom tonight to request my credit. I wish I had the receipt with me...

Those shoes are gorgeous. Too bad they didn't have them. I'm all for spending money on shoes that are this beautiful as long as you can afford it. I have been shopping with female friends and I am a bad influence. I was in Nordys once and it came down to a $70 pair of leather pumps and a $300 pair of suede in the same color.....I told her to go with the suede and she bought them and wore them at her wedding.

If she wants support, call Dr. Sholl.

It was so depressing. They didn't have any Kate Spade shoes on display, so I asked and described them and the sales girl immediately said oh yeah, with the bows? Those are on display upstairs! She ran up to get them, came down, excitedly flipped the box open...and :( different shoes, a pump with a bow and peep toe. Cute but not at all what I wanted. I did prance around in them for several minutes though.

I do have to say kudos to Nordstrom on fabulous customer service last night. I never feel let down in their shoe department. She just kept bringing me new shoes, I lost the energy to wander around so she pulled pretty much every strappy sandal in my size and even looked through the clearance racks for me. She was an angel!
