A Game Show Post? On This Bored???

Just wanted to update everybody on my status regarding the upcoming J! Tournament of Champions. Not that I think everyone has been waiting breathlessly for such an update, but it has been very much on my mind and it will be good for me to let some of my anxiety/hopefulness out in writing. It is strange, stressful, but much fun to watch J! each night with a vested interest in the outcome.

The TOC will be taped in early January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The top 14 winners (determined by number of games won with total winnings as tiebreaker) since the last TOC in November, 2007 will be invited, along with the College Tourney winner. Based on tape dates through December and the moving of winter sweeps from February to March, it is anticipated the TOC will be aired sometime in early March, 2009. That means there are about 15 more weeks of games to be aired until the TOC (not counting the next two weeks' Teen Tourney). I'm good if 5 or fewer folks pass me as I am currently ninth on the list. The average for that time period is about 3 (yes, I've gone into the J! archive and calculated it - I admit to being a little obsessed).

In the past month, there have been three close calls for folks to pass me, but it has not occurred. For the first time, I am cautiously optimistic about qualifying and have stepped up the studying. I'll be glad when early December comes and I will know for sure whether I made it or not (I'll either get the Call or I won't after they are done taping the pre-TOC shows).

I am both excited and a little nervous that the TOC taping is now only two months away!

I'm hoping for the free trip to Vegas, a minimum of $5000 for playing and a chance (slim though it may be) at $250,000 for winning, but actually most of all just for a chance to play the game again. It is such a rush!

Thaks for the update, Trevor. It's got to be torture, knowing that your TOC fate may already be on tape, but you're not privy to what that fate is.
