Scary Storm

#1 Post by silvercamaro » Wed Nov 05, 2008 8:40 pm

I'm now in my fourth or fifth round of thunderstorms with cells of heavy hail, which sounds as if it's going to break the windows and come through the roof. (There's also a tornado watch, but no signs so far of rotation.)

The girls wanted to go outside and scare the storm away. I didn't let them.

I will look forward to morning, to see if my car has escaped damage. If anything has happened to my roof, I'm sure I'll know much, much sooner.

Yikes!  I hope we don't get that sort of stuff tomorrow night.  It's been unusually warm here for the past several days-in the 70's. That's strange for November.  They are saying that a strong cold front will be coming through tomorrow night with rain and maybe even thunderstorms.  By the weekend it will only be in the [color=#0040440's.[/color] Brrrrr.

The lightning map looks scary!

herjosie is cuddled up next to me, and we are watching the lightning out the back window. I've got candles and matches handy, just in case.

I'm no architect, but I don't think you're supposed to have windows on the roof.

Lovely! The weather guys are reporting golf ball-sized hail just north of us. And more stuff rolling in from the southwest.

Could be a long night.

I hope Annie will let me sleep with her tonight! I'm scared!
Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

If Annie will let you sleep with her, that's okay with me, as long as Annie isn't sleeping with me.

How'd this turn out? We had no lightning, but we lost power for 2 1/2 hours just from wind here last night.

They showed some pictures at lunch on CNN in the cafeteria of OK. I couldn't tell which town.
