top o' the mornin'®
Last weekend was ot the most spectacular of weekends. elwing's booth at the craft show was in its usual location but traffic was down from previous years and the weather (temperatures in the high 80s) didn't exacty stimulate interest in purchasing woolen items (scarves, sweaters, hats). Then on Monday our daughter-in-law was mugged and robbed on her way to the corner store to buy a money order. The good news is that she wasn't seriously hurt and she was able to identify her attackers. The bad news is that they live in the area; the detective working the case asked her if she would come in for a line-up to identify them but she's afraid that if they get out on bail or if they aren't convicted they'll do worse to her next time. It's a tough decision for her to make - they have 9 months remaining on the lease at their apartment so moving isn't really an option.

Yikes!
Didn't you son and daughter-in-law just have that incident with the thief on a bicycle a little while ago?

Yes, they did. The problem is that they don't have a bank account - or rather they had one, but it was constantly overdrawn so they closed it. Both of them are intelligent enough to balance a checkbook but evidently neither would take the time to be bothered with such, or else they weren't communicating, or whatever. So they cash their checks at Walmart* (having to pay $3 for the privilege), then purchase money orders to pay their bills (incurring further charges for the cost of the money order). And on top of that, then, they get robbed - twice! - in the space of two weeks. Neither one works for a company that does direct deposit of their paychecks, either (though I'm guessing they wouldn't want that, given their inability to keep money in the account).MarleysGh0st wrote:Yikes!
