Moratorium Lounge Opening for Lunch

#1 Post by christie1111 » Fri Oct 03, 2008 9:16 am

A Greek menu was promised and here it is...

Spanikopita

Zeke's Tyropitas (Epicurious . com has this recipe, they are awesome cheese and phyllo turnovers)

Dolmades

Grilled haloumi cheese and lemon with cumin dusted toasted pita chips

Greek salad with a terrific vinegrette dressing with finely minced garlic and oregano

Grilled Marinated Leg of Lamb with Tsatsiki and soft Pitas

Roasted Chicken with Lemon, Garlic and Oregano

Baked red snapper with avgolemono

Orzo with feta, tomatoes, and dill

Grilled Baby Artichokes

Herb Roasted Eggplant with Tomatoes

Ouzo-scented almond, yogurt, and olive oil cake

Sesame Seed Candy

Baklava, of course!

Barkeep, a strong coffee with an Ouzo please!

I made extra of the Tyropitas so check the kitchen if they run out. I am leaving early today to pick up my Mom for the weekend. I'll check in later.

I'm afraid to order. I don't know how to pronounce most of that stuff. :D

I'll bring some souvlaki and loukoumades! But I won't fry them until we're ready for dessert--they're best when they're fresh and hot.

These sound infinitely better than what I really have for lunch.

Had an appointment with my doctor yesterday, a followup on getting new meds about 6 months ago. She wanted my menu from the previous day. I went through it, only slightly surprised that I could actually remember it all, but kept thinking "Gawd, this is dull food!". The only remotely un-dull food was GW's dinner, which of course contained a rare not-so-good-for-you ingredient. Losing and keeping off weight may be healthier, but it severely atrophies your taste buds.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I almost forgot!

We are singing Happy Birthday later over by the dessert table.

I think we need to take the shoes off of the top of OntEllen's cake before we slice it though.
