Speaking of cute animals....

#1 Post by mellytu74 » Thu Oct 02, 2008 8:03 pm

....Miss Denise MAY be getting a baby brother or sister.

There is a family of feral cats who live in nearby backyards -- Charlie's house behind us and the family next door. Charlie feeds them and has two cat carriers for them to hide from the rain.

In the past, he has been able to gather the cats and get them fixed at the SPCA. They no longer fix the cats the at SPCA but they do fix them at a local vet's office so I guess that's where Charlie takes them when he can.

He mentioned to Boonie that he hasn't been able to catch the cats lately.

Anyway, there are two white kittens in this family. They are slightly older kittens, about six months.

We think the kittens were born under our shed. At least they spent lots of time there before starting to socialize.

One of them has been spending a lot of time at the window of the enclosed porch staring at Miss Denise. The other day, it was sitting on the wall outside, looking at Denise, who was at the front door.

For her part, Miss Denise (who is feral herself) does not seem to mind. She doesn't snarl or blow up her body or try to chase the kitten away. She just stares.

We were thinking that maybe we would try to adopt the kitten if it's OK with Miss Denise.

But, we don't know.

You should adopt the kitty. Owning two cats is just as easy as owning one.

I was just thinking about animals. But in a very sad and disgusted way. Don't read this if you are in a bad mood, or if you wish to stay in a good one:

Sad sad sad sick and sad....

It's a good thing he didn't get his hands on any squirrels!

I'll bet the boy's middle name is Wayne, though....
Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.
