I took this out of the Timeline thread, in case you don't go back to read the answers.

Windows does an automatic save for these situations. When you get back in it asks you if you want to recover the files if you want to change save location follow this

Specify a location for automatically recovered files
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the File Locations tab.
In the File types box, click AutoRecover files.
Click Modify.
If you want to store automatically recovered files in a different folder, locate and open the folder.
Does that only work if you're in a document? Because I just type directly to my board post, so if my browser freezes and shuts down, my post window is gone and there's no file to retrieve.
We, the HK Brigade, do hereby salute you, Marley, for your steadfast devotion to ontopicosity. Well done, sir!

Yes and that is why I always do quizzes and long postings in word and cut and paste.
