An Obama story you won't see on CNN...

#1 Post by marrymeflyfree » Sat Sep 27, 2008 8:12 pm

Some years ago, an American woman met a Norwegian man aboard a ship. They fell in love, I suppose, and she agreed to move to Norway to be with him. Being young and without much money and in the midst of moving all her belongings, she was surprised and unprepared when the airline insisted that she pay extra for all of her additional cargo. She had no funds, and was at the ticket counter in tears, trying to figure a way to make it work out.

She was tapped on the shoulder by the man behind her. He offered to pay her luggage fees with the promise that she pay him back when she got settled into her new surroundings. She took him up on the offer...they chatted a bit, exchanged addresses, and all was good. She sent him some money after moving and finding a job, and he sent back a letter of thanks.

Fast forward many years to a couple of months ago. This woman was cleaning out some old storage boxes in the attic, including one that contained mementos of her big move to Scandi-land. She found the thank-you note that the young man had sent back, and was shocked when she saw the name: Barack Obama. All she remembered of the guy was that he was a tall, skinny black man with big ears, and was fresh out of law school. Nice guy, huh?

The woman is a former co-worker of my pseudo-MIL. The whole story sounds a bit fantastical, but I'm hoping to see this letter with my own two eyeballs when we visit next week.

Cool! That almost sounds media-worthy beyond this bored!

If this is a true story, then good for Obama. But he would still make a lousy president that would do great harm to this country, not because the quality of his person but because of the lack of quality of his ideas and policies.

Didn't he use the name Barry when he was younger? I thought that's what they said on the CNN bio that ran a few weeks ago. Of course, I could be wrong about that.

Make sure to check the kerning of the typeset.

Actually, I have no reason to doubt the veracity of the story. I don't doubt that Senator Obama might have paid the money. It's what I would have done in the same situation.

Would you ask to be repaid?

That's nothing. I heard that Barry recently appeared through the clouds to silverscreenselect, asking "Why are you persecuting me?" He then told SSS to go to Macon to register voters.

Yes, this was not long after he asked the Lord "Why hast thou forsaken me?"

Duh. If I read the whole post, I could see you already answered my question. Now I am a little skeptical.
