One of Emma's friend's parents called me this morning trying to incite me to riot against a teacher because of a homework assignment. She went to the principal to complain as well. I disagreed with her position and told her so. I've spent the last hour writing a letter to the principal in support of the teacher.

The letter is three pages long.

Well it's in Social Studies and the kids were supposed to discuss their own beliefs about the issues of the election. Basically some of the parents don't want their kids to have beliefs about issues.

My recommendation is to revise it down to about a page and a half and send it. My guess is you've got a few extras in there that probably don't add to the discussion.

If I change the margins the letter isn't quite as long.

Remember how I posted about being proud of Emma for thoughtfully telling me to vote for a third party. It's a direct result of this teacher's discussions.

That's why I was shocked that it bothered some of the parents.

I hated that assigment too!

Thankfully, I was able to drop out and become a well-respected child actor....
