Answers and Points Timeline, Game 14 Thursday September 18

#1 Post by Here's Fanny! » Thu Sep 18, 2008 7:55 am

So, who besides me used to get up at ungodly hours just to watch the weddings of a bunch of inbreds who'd never invite me in the first place and I wouldn't want to meet, anyway? All of you? I thought so!

I should have known that it would come in handy later in life when I needed a Timeline topic, though. Ha! The English are so neat and tidy, Queen Elizabeth has four children, each of who/m has two children. Therefore she has eight grandchildren, four boys and four girls. Don't you love symmetry?

They are also fond of giving a lot of "Christian" names. All of the Queen's children have four given names. Her eldest and youngest sons gave their children four names, while her daughter and middle son were content with three each for their kids. Got all that? Good! I've put the number of names in parentheses by each title, just in case.

Today's Timeline will be to provide the name and birth year of the 12 people in question, using the Well provided (with 3 bogies). You'll also get extra points for figuring out any of their 'extra' names (surnames don't count).

Scoring: Birth year bullseye - 10 points (120 possible)
Close (+/- 2 years) - 4 points
Ballpark (+/- 5 years) - 2 points

First names: 5 points each (60 possible)
Add'l names: 3 points each (96 possible, 32 add'l names total)
Identifying bogies: 1 point each (3 possible)
Bonus: 10 points each (20 possible)

For a whopping 299 points today! (I told you there were going to be some big points days coming up.) Please format as follows:

1. Prince of Wales
1902
Charles Larry Curly Moe

I smell disaster... really don't care about the Royals - but regarding symmetry - not only do I have 10 kids - 5 girls and 5 boys, but every time it was an an even number it was an even split in gender - from oldest to youngest - GB BG BG GB BG - do I get any bonus points for symmetry?

I didn't but my wife slept in a park across from Buckingham Palace so she could watch the processions.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

I will do poorly on this one. The Irish side of the family is very Anglophobe and I never got into whole royalty thing. Just the usual People mag-at-the-dentist thing.

Like mel, I also have not a whole lot of use for the Royal Family. But there's just something about weddings and births that get me. I blame it on seeing Anne's wedding when I was just a tot and being enthralled by the pomp and circumstance as well as fascinated they she had four names! I was and am very into names, so I think that's the birth interest (even if they are rather repetitive, just saying Albert, Philip, Elizabeth and Mary would have snagged a lot of points. Ha!).

Triple Timeline - September 18

"The Royal Name Game"

1. Duke of York (4)

1960 - Andrew Albert Christian Edward

2. Earl of Wessex (4)

1964 - Edward Antony Richard Louis

3. Lady (4)

2003 - Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary

4. Miss (3)

1981 - Zara Anne Elizabeth

5. Mister (3)

1977 - Peter Mark Andrew

6. Prince of Wales (4)

7. Prince #1 (4)

1982 - William Arthur Philip Louis

8. Prince #2 (4)

1984 - Henry Charles Albert David

9. Princess Royal (4)

1950 - Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise

10. Princess #1 (3)

1988 - Beatrice Elizabeth Mary

Besides names, I also like numbers and I thought at the time that this was a fantastic birthdate.

11. Princess #2 (3)

1990 - Eugenie Victoria Helena

I always wondered if Sarah Ferguson had read Gone with the Wind.

12. Viscount Severn (4)

2007 - James Alexander Philip Theo
