Hey Sportsfan68
Just out of curiosity, did you attempt to get World Series tickets last year when the Rockies' computer ticketing system blew up?

Since the MLB postseason is almost upon us, I was looking on the Rays' and the Angels' websites about tickets. They all seem to be doing some kind of lottery, which the Rockies did not do last year.
I don't think I posted this last year, but here is a write up I did of our experience last season....

I have been a Colorado Rockies fan since day one. I went to the first two games the team ever played. They were both on the road against the New York Mets. (It helped that I was living in New York at the time.) I also went to the first game ever played at Coors Field back when it opened in 1995 (I was living in Colorado then). So needless to say, I have been really into the 21 wins in 22 games run that they went on to make it into the World Series.
Caught up in the euphoria of the Rockies' 2007 season, I was determined to take my son Seth, who has been into baseball since he was a toddler, to Game 3 of the World Series. We left Fort Worth Friday about 6:00 in the evening, spent the night in a Super 8 in Amarillo, then made it into Denver about 1:00 Mountain time on Saturday. We stopped at a Sports Authority, bought some souvenirs, and then headed downtown. I had made some bids for tickets on EBay, and I had been pretty sure that I would get them when I left Texas Friday. But I didn’t get them, so we were in Denver without tickets. We went downtown and walked around Coors Field for awhile. We saw a whole lot of people there trying to buy tickets but not a soul was selling. It was looking pretty bad, and Seth was getting really tired. I had told him that if we didn’t get tickets that I would take him to Casa Bonita. About 45 minutes before game time, we gave up and started heading back to our car. On the way, we found someone selling a pair of tickets. They were the season ticket holder tickets (not print-at-home), so I made the guy an offer, but he didn’t want to take it. I told him that I couldn’t go any higher and started to walk away. He relented, and sold me the tickets. Seth and I turned around and headed back to Coors Field.
We got to the gate, but the tickets wouldn’t scan. I wasn’t feeling too good about that. The lady told us to go to the side of the front gate, and tell the attendant there. We got over there, and the guy there said that the tickets that we had were bogus. My heart sank. They looked real—even the disclaimer on the back. I think someone must have stolen some “blanks” or something and just printed section and seat numbers and barcodes on them. Either that, or there is a really professional counterfeit printing operation working there. The guy took us into the Rockies ticket office, and we talked with a Denver police officer for a bit. The Rockies then did a search and sold us two more tickets at face value. The guy on the computer said that they were the only two he could find. Of course, we bought them, and they turned out to be four rows from the field, down the right field line. Between what I paid for the fake tickets and what I paid to the Rockies for the real ones, we actually came out a lot better than what people on StubHub were paying for upper deck outfield seats. It just irks me that some of that money went to a criminal…
Unfortunately, the Rockies lost 10-5, with the Red Sox taking a 3-0 series lead, but I got to take my son to the World Series. It really was a great experience once we got into the ballpark. It was cold, so I bought my son a World Series jacket. Here’s a link to a picture of us taken by the Rockies… http://www.printroom.com/ViewGalleryPho ... mage_id=65
I did take a lot of video, and I posted a short clip of it on my MySpace page at http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... D=34395695.
Once the game was over, we started immediately for home. We spent the night in a Motel 6 in Colorado Springs, and made it home around 8:00 Sunday evening, just in time to watch the last seven and a half innings of game 4 on TV….

No, I didn't try to get tickets since it would have meant several overnight stays away from home. SteelersFan was off hunting, and one of my best friends was back east visiting the grandkids, so I was taking care of two households and six critters. I think the houses would have been OK by themselves, but the critters might have started chewing through wires. Or running off to get adopted somewhere else...danielh41 wrote:Just out of curiosity, did you attempt to get World Series tickets last year when the Rockies' computer ticketing system blew up?
I watched in misery all by myself...
