Phone Company Up-Date

Okay, maybe not a rant, but annoyed.

So about 3-4 weeks ago our home phone was out for awhile, like 3 days. We all have cells o it isn't any ig deal. The alarm will still make loud noises, it just can't call the police. Normally I wouldn't be THAT worried. Crime in the neighborhood is pretty minor.

Phone is out again today. At first they said it would be fixed by Friday. Not acceptable I explained. Now they said by 6 pm tomorrow. Better except for one little thing that I told a few people about in chat one night....

About 10 days ago we had a police detective going door-to-door in the neighborhood. Why you might ask? To warn us about the guy who is about to be released from jail. Seems he is still unhappy with the prosecutor who put him behind bars and has continued to say that he was going to seek revenge. The prosecutor has retired to live about three houses away and across the street.

Why did he go to jail?

Seemes that he liked to build bombs.

They have told us that he was to undergo a psychiatric evaluation for 2 weeks then have electronic monitoring. And if he ditched the monitoring, they would have plain clothes policeman in the area immediately.

This has had me a tad nervous. Last night a car slowed down outside. I got up to make sure it kept going.

They told us they would let us know of any up-dates and we haven't heard anything.

But I really would like my alarm to automatically call the police right now.

The things I miss out on because I don't go to chat! :shock:

Has this guy finished his entire sentence or did they give him parole with an attitude like that?

I don't know.

I was just hoping he would fail his psychiatric evaluation.

Of course they couldn't tell us everything. They showed us a picture. Not a very reassuring picture. They couldn't leave it since it was from the Dept. of Corrections.

Unless you have some package deal, I say ditch the phone company!! If you have the local phone company, switch to the cable company, or vice versa. If you have a 2 or 3 or 4 service package that might not be the way to go but if it's just phone, they can switch it almost instantly I believe. I'm not sure if you have to call from home to make it happen or not, but it might be worth a call. You should never have phone outages like that!!!

Holy shit and shinola! What's that guy even doing getting out of prison?!?! He killed his father and gets probation?!? Not to mention all the other stuff.

Not to be an alarmist, but good grief, get that phone fixed and double secure all your doors and windows. Better yet, he needs to be put away!

I think the Probation Department has their collective heads up their collective behinds.

This case is a classic example of why some people think that Parole Boards should not be immune from liability when they make a totally boneheaded decision.

State Law might have mandated the release, but if not, then the Parole Board members who voted to release this guy should all be removed from their positions.

Good Lord! Not to put too fine a point on it, but this guy is nuts! I agree with Cal -- the Parole Board needs to be canned ASAP. Are they appointed or elected in CT?

Get the phone switched, and make sure all your locks are secure. It really stinks that YOU are the ones having to be "locked up" in order to be safe.

My sister & mother's land line kept giving busy signals even though they were not on the phone. The phone co, I believe Verizon, came eventually; said they'd fixed it; they had not. Came again some time later; closed off most of the extra jacks, in various rooms, which we had paid to have put in. This fixed the problem, but left us with phones you can only plug in in a few places. To put in new jacks, even on the same #, will cost lots of money. My sister uses those awful portable phones, but the charging base has to be plugged in to the phone jack.

Its not like you can't carry the awful portables around to the room of your choice, but if you want the comfort food feel of a real phone, you are now out of luck.

In addition, during power outages, you are also out of luck without at least one landline. We still keep one, having learned of its necessity during the long outage after the "big one" in '94. Even if you have cell phones, they will not be very useful once their charge has died...

I also like to have a landline for those realllly long conversations, when the portables' batteries start to die and you have to run from cradle to cradle doing the switcheroo dance before the beeping stops... and this is after the battery has gotten so hot that you feel like you've nearly par-boiled your cheek and ear.

Sheesh, indeed, Christie! I just read the article.

There wasn't much the authorities could do, it looks like he's served his term... They're gonna watch this moron very closely, and will pop him as soon as he's done something careless to violate his probation. Don't worry too much, but I can see why you would. He'll be back behind bars before you know it.

We have seen more police around, even today when I got hme a cruiser drove by and the officer waved.

They are waiting him to be stupid. Police don't like these guys getting out either.

Within the 24 hours as required by law.

Now I await the up-date on the status of the looney tune the parole board let go.

When they mergered phone co. in our area, they made one of the conditions that they had to make home repairs within 24 hours.

That is the piece of information I mentioned to them when I found our phone out.

It was repaired within 24 hours.
