I have two: I have the 97 Toyota Camry that I bought (used) in 1999 after I was on WWTBAM, and I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, that my sweet Margaret bought during her last year. The Camry is in better shape than the Grand Caravan (Camries are extremely well-made cars, they last forEVER), but both are still doing pretty well. They have about the same mileage on each (100,000 or so on the Grand Caravan, 110,000 on the Camry).
I will never buy a Ford again: last one I bought was a 1992 Taurus Wagon, which I traded in for the Camry: they actually made the transmissions out of ALUMINUM, which seems an odd choice of metal for something that gets pounded as much as a transmission. I had to replace the transmission twice before it had 60,000 miles on it (they replaced it for free once-- they recognized that aluminum is a stupid metal for a transmission-- and charged me little more than the amount of the tow the second time, but only because I argued with them). I previously had Fairmonts that were a pain in the ass as well.
I do not understand what is particularly 'elitist' about owning one or more than one car. I thought that 'elitism' was an attitude, not especially something to do with the property you do or do not possess.

The exact same thing happened with our Taurus Wagon. We had 3 transmissions in that one as well - the brakes went and we junked it. I still detest that car.
I had a red Fairmont back in the 80's. I was talked into it - hated that car as well.
