Attack ads - Canadian style

#1 Post by nitrah55 » Fri Sep 19, 2008 12:29 pm

Conservative Party runs ad showing a puffin taking a dump on the Liberal party leader.

After outrage, ad is pulled.

Then, the PM apologises for running the ad.

Perhaps this gives us some insight as to why Our Neighbor to the North does not have an effective nuclear deterrant. Too nice.
I am about 25% sure of this.

The Conservatives have so much friggin money they are running about 80% of the national advertising, as far as I can tell. The two debates, one in English and one in French, are likely to be very important.

Now why can't we have ads like that in the U.S.? I can name quite a few conservatives and liberals who need to be crapped on by puffins in TV ads.

How to get 25 Canadians out of a swimming pool, eh?
Spoiler
You ask them.
---Jay (In this year the City of Toronto's metropolitan government was dissolved and the these municipalities, East York, Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough and York, were amalgamated into a single municipality, creating the current City of Toronto - if you know how long ago that world-shattering event to place, well then you know the rest...)

That should be "How to get three drunken Minnesotans out of a swimming pool." :P

cf. "Minnesota Nice", one of the bonus features on the Fargo DVD.
