bbking report
I just talked to Beebs. Not only was she excited when her land-line phone rang, but her electricity came on at 5 p.m. today. She doesn't yet have internet access, as that's hooked up with the cable, which may take a bit longer. Everything, she said, seems to be getting a little bit better ever day. (She already tried to use her laptop with dial-up, but it wouldn't cooperate.)
Yesterday, she gave herself a pedicure. Today, she is excited at the prospect of reading a book in bed by the illumination of a genuine light bulb.

That's great that she's getting back one thing each day. All at once is sensory overload.

Ah, well, if it all worked at once, you'd start to take last-century innovations for granted.Beebs52 wrote: Phones and internet work at work. Email doesn't. Now our home land lines are down.
It's nice to see your dunecat face back on the bored. I've been saving up my melange in case Houston had a shortage.

The next time you feel the need to pedicure, the color " LOUVRE ME LOUVRE ME NOT" by OPI is really pretty. I am sporting it on my tootsies right now.
After Katrina, when we had no power, I felt the need to beautify myself. I painted the girls fingers and toes along with my own. I know, I'm vain.

Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.
