Official air date notification question

Official air date notification question
For the longest time, it seemed that it would be the longest time until my scheduled air date was to arrive... now it is no longer looking so far away... it is now down to a couple of weeks (if you have been following my sig-comments and have been able to solve my trivia questions you will know the current coundown number).
My question is, how do they typically notify you of your official air date? Is it email, phone call or snail mail? If it is through the snail mail I need to be extra aware as there is a black hole located somewhere between our mail box and our home, because mail tends to simply disappear in our house.

Most people I know who aired were never notified if the original date changed.

I was told when they moved it, but that was because of my interviews, etc.

That might be a good way to tell, unless your show and another show could be pulled as a 2 day block and moved anywhere.dimmzy wrote:They never let me know. Watch every day until you see people in your group...
Both mine and Sting's were a 2 day blocks and we both got moved and neither of us were told.
I only knew Sting's was going to air because DrCanadaguy (I think it was him) was seeing tomorrows show today and he thought he recognized me.

So the fact that Trisha Miller, the show publicist, told us that she would contact us about 1.5 weeks before the air date to confirm the ACTUAL air date is more of a suggestion than reality? This would be helpful to know as my reception for Millionaire is pathetic, and I will need others to record it for me. Can't ask them to record two months of random shows, and I don't want to take a chance on missing it.
If this is indeed the case, anyone know the average time between taping and airing? Then I can pester her by e-mail until I know so I don't miss getting a copy.

There's no such thing as an average time. Because all the shows are taped by mid-November but aired through June, that time gets longer and longer as the taping season progresses. And that's if they keep the shows in order. With all of the changes in the show - Trish could have a new system in place to notify people. When we taped, we were told the air date. We were not.
Trish was very nice when I contacted her and told her my show did not air in my market due to a snow storm and she sent me a tape.

They send out emails, on the Monday on the week before the show. Mine came late on Monday night, so call it Tuesday to be on the safe side. So emails going out this Monday/Tuesday will be for all people airing the week of 9/22.
They will NOT email or call to tell you if your air date has been pushed out further. If you don't get an email saying you will be on, it's safe to say you won't be. I emailed Trisha Miller because we were trying to plan a viewing party, and she was able to tell me that I was not on my scheduled date, but at that time she didn't have the date. I ended up airing nearly a month after the date they told me at the taping.

My show aired in February 2003, so many things have changed since then. They moved my show because Kevin Smith (the first Syndie Millionaire) followed me in the hot seat. We made a 2 show block, which was easy to move to sweeps month.Winnamill wrote:How long ago was your show to air? There was enough leaking of him being on the show that I knew I would be as well. I sent an e-mail to her asking if my show was moved. She answered the e-mail about 6 weeks later. It was CBS's decision to play snowstorm coverage all day long, and not air my show,.

My tape date is this Tuesday (the 23rd) and they told me my air date would be the week of January 5th. Talk about a looooong time to not be able to tell anyone anything! What puzzles me is Winnamil's tape date was this week and she was given a November air date, so why is it that a just a handful of tape dates later mine is like 6 weeks further out? Anyone know?
Jay, when is your air date suppose to be? If you saw yourself in the audience on Monday then wouldn't your date be in within the next couple of days?

It could be that there are re-runs planned for a week or two during the holidays.
Having to wait from September until January is nothing - we have had people who waited from December to June.

This week, so far, is the week they are showing the shows that I attended as one of the masses in the audience - not as a contestant in the on-deck area. I didn't end up taping until two tape days after these shows taped. If they doen't rearrange things and air them in the order that they taped, that means next week will be the shows my family saw but I didn't see being confined in the green room and the following week will be the week my show should air if nothing is rearranged.TexasMommy wrote:My tape date is this Tuesday (the 23rd) and they told me my air date would be the week of January 5th. Once I know for sure the actual air date I will post it - until then I will just use my sig to indicate the number of days until my tentitive air date. It is starting to get both a little real and sureal as I am inching into the single digits zone.

I just realized -- ATE makes it much harder for them to play shows out of order.
