First, this was a third-trimester abortion. In every state that I'm aware of, third-trimester abortions can only be performed to save the life or health of the mother. So the claim that the mother "elected" to have an abortion at this stage of the pregnancy is, at best, highly dubious.

Second, the medical professionals can correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe that saline abortions are used at seven and a half months gestation.

Third, she expresses no basis, none at all, for her belief that the physician would have committed murder after a live birth. Indeed, she expresses no basis for knowing what happened in that room -- surely she doesn't remember it.

If the 1996 Republican Congress really wanted to know what happened in that room, rather than choosing a sympathetic and partisan spokesperson, they would have sought out and found someone who might actually remember the events. Of course, the Committee wasn't interested in the actual facts. They had a narrative they wanted to convey, and little or no interest in determining whether that narrative was true. --Bob
I posted this remarkable woman's testimony without any commentary from me because I think what she says speaks entirely for itself. Sadly, Bob posted the typical liberal response which is to deny the plausibility of her tale. The fact is that the biological mother was found and interviewed as well as the abortionist. She isn't just making the story up. Here's a link to the book... http://www.amazon.com/Gianna-Aborted-Li ... 862&sr=8-1

A video clip of her appearance on Hannity & Colmes can be found at www.bornalivetruth.org. I watched it again this evening, and just seeing the joy that she exudes brought me to tears. I will be donating money to this particular PAC so that they can run this ad as many times and in as many battleground states as possible, and I will be encouraging all my friends to do the same. Barack Hussein Obama cannot deny that he voted against preventing the murder of the most innocent of human beings. The PAC site even has links to the transcripts of the debate from the Illinois state legislature website.

So now it's true, not because Gianna says it, but because the author of a book wrote it? The same author who, in the comment section of the Amazon link you provided, claims that the physician said that he performed between 150,000 and 160,000 abortions per year? (I think that's about 450 per day, every day, including weekends and holidays.) The same author who falsely implied that abortion on demand was available in this country up to the moment of birth? You'll understand, I trust, if I refuse to consider this account gospel.

The simple fact is that Gianna can't possibly know what she claims to know. She's undoubtedly parroting information she obtained from sources she believes. It doesn't make her a bad person, but it does make her the wrong witness for anyone interested in getting at the truth, rather than playing to emotion.

If by the "typical liberal response" you mean a grain of salt and a healthy dose of critical skepticism, then I guess you're right. Of course, where I grew up, that was simply called critical thinking. The country could have used a lot more of these qualities when Bush was selling us a crock of goods to support the Iraq war. --Bob
