Pollster.com is one of the best web sites out there for pure, objective analysis of polling and trends in the elections. The people who run the site are professional pollsters who are more interested in explaining what the polls reveal and which ones are and are not reliable (and why), rather than use them to expound on one political viewpoint or the other. This article that appeared today is a good look at the current state of Obama's campaign and their prediction of the election result at this time.

My own "fearless" prediction is that the Republicans will continue to keep the gloves on, this week, emphasizing Palin's interview with Sean Hannity and how it demostrates her grasp of the issues (as opposed to the severely edited Gibson interview). Next week, if the polls continue to show a narrow Obama lead, the dirt's going to start coming out.

What everybody neglects to mention is that Hannity always lobs Nerf balls when he interviews Republicans. (No softballs here--even those are too hard.) I'm surprised that anybody at FOX Cartoon News, much less Hannity, could stop ejaculating just long enough to conduct a Nerf ball interview with Gov. Palin.Comedian silverscreenselect wrote:My own "fearless" prediction is that the Republicans will continue to keep the gloves on, this week, emphasizing Palin's interview with Sean Hannity and how it demostrates her grasp of the issues (as opposed to the severely edited Gibson interview).

So, you can only imagine my feelings about MSNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:What everybody neglects to mention is that Hannity always lobs Nerf balls when he interviews Republicans. I doubt you are going to get "tough" questions from Hannity, but I do think a lot of people out there, not the partisans on either side, haven't fully made their minds up on Palin and don't feel that Gibson's cross-examination of her allowed her to state her views fully on the issues. Hannity will give her that chance.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:What everybody neglects to mention is that Hannity always lobs Nerf balls when he interviews Republicans. Obama supporters claim they want to campaign on the issues then aren't interested in Palin giving her views on the issues without a Tim Russert wannabe interrupting every five seconds with another gotcha comment.
What I heard from Palin in the parts of her interview that did manage to get past the ABC/Obama censors was someone with deep personal beliefs (a lot of which I disagree with) but also an understanding that to get things done in politics, you have to be practical. Extreme ideologues (on either side) may get elected to legislatures where they can give speeches, propose legislation that goes nowhere, and cast the sole dissenting votes against other bills. They may even become quite popular among those in the blogosphere of similar ideologies. They don't however, make effective governors. Governors have to build roads, balance budgets and make the state run. They can't do that if they try to use their office to mount a crusade to turn the state into a liberal or coservative utopia.
