I'm not in claims, but I know enough that book value cannot be a blanket figure to settle a claim.

Some people run the hell out of their cars and don't take care of them.

The adjustor should be looking at mileage, condition & age of tires and overall condition of the car.

Some are worth a bit more than book value some will be less. You certainly have a right to question the how they arrived at their figure.
