Thanks, Ray.

Three months from now, nobody will remember it.

... OK, lots of people will remember it. But it won't be as painful.

We'll always have September.

Sorry sprots :(

The MLB playoffs only went 4 games longer than the minimum (Indians involved in all 4 games - 1 against Yankees and 3 against Sox). So out of a minimum of 24 playoff games and a maximum of 41, there were only 28 games played.

I pass along my condolences. I was rooting for Colorado also (unlike Giuliani, my allegiance is to the Yankees, not the American League). I don't know if the 8-day layoff was the reason for their poor performance in the Series or what, but it's a shame that they had to end up on the receiving end of a sweep after posting two of their own.

I think next year, we're just going to disregard what happens in the regular season altogether and just set up an ALCS of the Red Sox and Yankees, and an NLCS of the Dodgers and Mets. And all would be Best of 27 series. That would make up for all the potential revenue that got pissed away from all these damn sweeps and ballclubs from third rate markets....

Is it just me, or do others think the registered trademark on the Cardinal logo looks like something the bird just let drop?
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Terry Francona: Career 8-0 in the World Series, first time in MLB history.

New England Patriots: 8-0 in the current season, first time in franchise history.

Coincidence?

Now if the Bruins can stay awake and the mortgage-the-future free agents can really help the Celtics, pro sports life will remain good around here through the entire winter ...

As one watching from a distance, I was impressed with the talent and drive of the Rockies, a team totally ignored by the national media until the post-season (NO appearances on ESPN and NO appearances on Fox during the regular season.)

Some great fielding by Atkins and Tulo. I recalled Helton flirting with .400 a few years back, but did not know how good his numbers were, year in and year out. What a pleasure to watch these guys.

They'll be back.

They'll lose to the Yankees, but they'll be back.
I am about 25% sure of this.

I do everything Pea tells me to.

Almost.

OK, no teeth. Best I could do.

Amazing how Terry Francona turned into a genius. All it took was a $140 million payroll.

That wasn't meant to be as snippy as it sounded.

It's just that when Francona was here, he couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag and had the people skills of, say, Alex Rodriguez.

Except less so.

Even though I live in Fort Worth, I have always been a Rockies fan. I went to the first two games in team history (in New York against the Mets before they ever played at Mile High). I went to the first game at Coors Field back when I lived in Littleton. So watching them on their run to end the season was fantastic.

I took my 8 year old son, and we drove to Denver to see Game 3. We got lucky in getting two tickets four rows from the field. They wound up costing me a total of 1150 dollars, but that's less than what two upperdeck outfield tickets were going for on Stubhub. It was a fantastic experience, even though the Rockies lost. And how many dads can say they took their son to the World Series (especially here in Texas where the Rangers haven't ever come close to the Series)...
