Camille Paglia disagrees with you.
Not on the first part of your claim, but the conclusion.

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
This will probably win even more support for Palin and less for Obama if peole do take the "lipstick on a pig" as a reference to Palin. Obama and his campaign are imploding, which is a good thing for our country...
Again, you are conflating "abortion on demand" with feminism. I see nothing in Palin's life or actions, other than her position on abortion, that an actual feminist would have problems with.hf_jai wrote:Oh, feminism is far from done. Feminism has picked up a new load of steam just this election cycle as many many women were shocked to find out how much sexism is out there, just under the surface, that it could bubble up with only a small provocation, even among those who claim they believe in human rights. A whole new generaltion of feminists has been born.Weyoun wrote:In terms of feminism, sure. Feminism's done. The leading feminist in America today is a pro-life moose-hunting Alaskan. Palin is a woman, and an accomplished and capable woman I'm sure, but she is no feminist. She wants to do what she wants to do, but she doesn't give a damn if I and millions of other women are allowed to do what we want to do. She is probably the quintessential gen-x'er, man or woman, in that sense.
But they are learning. We have a long way to go, baby.
I did vote for Bush twice, and I would sure vote for him again over Obama. Talk about sending the country to hell--an Obama presidency would certainly do that. Socialism, wealth redistribution, a weak military inviting more terrorist attacks, appeasement of terrorists, high taxes for business which would translate to fewer jobs.BigDrawMan wrote:danielh41 wrote:Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:

mccain used the same euphemism re hillary and her health plan.
mccain's top woman campaign staffer also told hillary to stop whining about "unfair" media coverage last winter.
a better thing for the country would be if people who voted for Bush twice would never vote again.
the country is going to hell and this is what concerns you.
beautiful
If this year's politicians are intent on recycling lame old jokes about lips and lipstick, why not go for the all time classic: "How can you tell when a politician is lying?"Bixby17 wrote:I heard the lipstick pitbull line a loooooong time ago.
Only it was a lawyer joke.
What's the difference between a female lawyer and a doberman?
Lipstick.
