Lance Armstrong -- Returning to Tour de France?

#1 Post by TheConfessor » Mon Sep 08, 2008 4:05 pm

Our local news is reporting that Lance is taking steps to enter the 2009 Tour de France. He certainly hasn't been slacking off in retirement, having run seriously in a few marathons, and recently almost winning the grueling 100 mile Leadville mountain bike race in Colorado.

This was reported on NPR this morning as well. The report also said that Armstrong intends to compete in five road races with his new team, the name of which I didn't catch.

Turns out it's Team Astana, but it's still just a rumor. Everyone involved is denying it, including the team.

Thanks for the correction. I heard the story on the radio, and Espana is what it sounded like.

I thought that was weird, but in cycling, teams are quite fluid.

This was just confirmed on the local news. Lance is going for #8.
