Trip Notes -Dulles Airport and Vancouver, BC

Before dawn Sunday, August 17, we drove from Charlottesville VA to Dulles Airport, there to get our flight to Vancouver.

Dulles Airport is glass, a lot of glass. So, when you're standing in a terminal just after dawn, it's likely that the morning sun will hit you in the eyes, no matter what you do. So when you're trying to see someone waving you to a ticket counter, it's hard. So when you're trying to read a departure board, it's hard. It's hard. It's glass.

The terminal building is attached (not quite the correct word) to the concourses where the gates are by a bunch of people movers that are basically trailers on stilts. They bear an odd resemblance to the walking tank-things from on of the Star Wars movies, except they roll instead of walking.

Flight to Vancouver blisfully uneventful. Vancouver- what we could see of it from the bus to the cruise ship- is vernal and happy.

But about that bus ride. When we got on the bus, Beloved Son, the Bride and I, looked around. At first glance it appeared that Beloved Son would be, by far, the youngest person on the cruise. On second glance, I wondered if we would be the 3 youngest persons on the cruise.

I'm flying out of Dulles in October when we go to LA. I HATE those people mover thingies. I would much rather walk the tunnels underneath than take those things. They are cramped and very conducive to car sickness.

That's quite a flight! Hope it all went well.

The signs around Dulles indicate they are building a tram system. If they did that and put up shades, I'd like the place a lot better.
