anyone else completely frustrated by ticketmaster?

I was supposedly buying tickets at a discount ahead of time online with my shiny new Virtual Credit Card # (a story in itself to get generated; definitely turn off your pop-up blocker, if you can find it) when I got stymied by the festival's attachment to Ticketmaster. Also, by the time they kept adding fees, I was already about $9.00 in the hole against my supposedly discounted price. I gave up when the site told me (after much prying) that I couldn't use Will-Call to pick up tickets at the gate if I'd used a virtual CC. Because the Will-Call Real People will examine my real CC. So the only other viable option, not wanting a $19 Fed Ex bill or anything, is to print the ticket on line, but unlike the last ticket I printed on line for my last plane trip, this one wants me to go out of the festival web site to Ticketmaster's web site. And Ticketmaster's web site is asking about all kinds of forms of Adobe or whatever that I will have to go check on.

I basically don't trust all of this & thought it would all be much easier. To save about $10 after all the fees, & get an extra pass for Friday night at the festival; really not worth it as I sit here. Maybe I'll change my mind before midnight, when the deal expires. I can just go to the gate next Saturday & Sunday & pay $25/day in American Cash. Or my non-virtual CC.


As I recall, last time I bought a video with a virtual CC, I didn't have to go through all this hooplah, but it was long ago. I certainly hope Amazon.com is not hooked up to TicketFEE-Master these days too. Or the airlines.

I'm not sure how they work, but I know you can buy the gift Visa/MC cards at places like WalMart. I have no idea how much they are, but if they were refillable (with cash), it would definitely be a great option in a cases like this. Now, if they weren't refillable and you had to buy a new one each time, it wouldn't be a good idea.

I'll look for them the next time I'm at WalMart. If you already know about these, and are familiar with how they work, please disregard this post!

I looked into buying the MasterCard or American Express gift cards at Price Chopper, as I would get the gas points for them. I figured that was quite a deal - buy a $100 card and get 20 cents off gas - the hitch is that they charge a service charge of $5.95 (or close to that) to do it. Doesn't pay.

Yuck, service charge. So, even if it had the option of adding cash back on to it, that $5.95 charge would be assessed each time? Probably. I'll just go back to having sympathy for Ghost. Stupid ticketmaster!
