Millionaire's Cash Giveaway

#1 Post by mikehardware » Fri Sep 19, 2008 5:16 am

Just checked the millionairetv.com web site, and it looks like they're doing a drawing for $1,000 each month sponsored by Capital One. You can enter daily starting later today.

So, once again, they're running a completely random sweepstakes instead of a competition reflecting the theme of this trivia game show. <grumble>®

But I see they're not bothering with offering a trip to the Hot Seat for the random winner. Maybe TPTB learned how well that works out.

I gave up on their stupid million. And they keep changing the rules on us.

From your lips to God's ears... :D

Seriously, I'd love it if any BB won one of these checks, especially if said BB had not yet made it onto BAM. Here's the link:

BTW, Capital One, what's the point of having us enter daily? There's no trivia questions to answer, so it's not like an ongoing competition, and you're not even serving us an advertisement (aside from your logo on the page) while having us resubmit the same entry info day after day through August 31, 2009.

Standard rules for web sweepstakes, Marley. Depends on the sponsor and how they want it set up. You can get one entry per person/e-mail address/household, one entry per month, per week, or per day. I can deal with not having to put up with their ads. I even prefer it that way.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Sure, it depends how they want to set it up. But, sometimes, the contest restricts us to one and only one entry per person for the entire sweepstakes. So why would they want us to enter every day, when it's not doing anything for them or for Millionaire?

Maybe it is. I'd bet there's some tracking and data collecting going on. Where else you go on the site, how long you stay, whether you click through to another link (especially theirs), are you new or have you been here before, and so on. The advertising on the website (and, I presume, on the show touting the sweeps) must do something for Capital One, and it's ad revenue for SyndieBAM's owners.

I'm sure I don't help them at all. I have the sweeps page bookmarked so I go directly there. I'm logged in already via cookies, so I don't even have to fill in the entry form. I go there, click on "submit", get the confirmation page, then leave.

If you enter & win, are you disqualified from ever being on the show?

Like I'm ever gonna be on the show (again).

But still, those of us among the unchosen still have to watch those qualifications.

No. It's a Capital One sweepstakes with no real connection to the show, aside from the link to its web page.

The full rules are available on the web.

D'oh!

It means "Is everyone remembering to enter this contest every day?"

LOL, marley. I looked and looked for some error in grammar or syntax in my post (usually it is not a long search).

Bumping this up, so there's something besides political sniping and HK blather at the top of the topic list.

If folks are looking for gratuitous stuff to do on the web, how about this one that might win you $1,000?

Is everyone still entering every day? :)

They claim that the Capital One Winners Gallery will display photos of the lucky winners, but so far all they have are highlights from the show. :(

Since Skip was so far behind in posting the new rules, we should probably expect the same for this Winners Gallery.

I haven't sent in my picture yet. But I sent them an avatar.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.
