On this day in 1985, the first Blockbuster Video store opened in Dallas, Texas. In 1954, Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jöchler and Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama made the first ascent of Cho Oyu, the world's 6th highest mountain. In 1943, researchers at Rutgers University isolated Streptomycin, the first antibiotic remedy for tuberculosis. In 1917, Love Field opened in Dallas, Texas. And in 1469, Ferdinand II of Aragon married Isabella of Castile, paving the way to the unification of Aragon and Castile into a single country, Spain. Happy Birthday Chris Kattan (1970), Trey Parker (1969), Jon Favreau (1966), Evander Holyfield (1962), John Lithgow (1945) and Robert Reed (1932 - 1992).

Thanks, lb. I wonder if you ought to run a new series of Bored history lessons for the benefit of those who have come upon us since the last time.littlebeast13 wrote:And on this day in Bored history 7 years ago, the first ever WWTBAM audition call-ins were held, filling spots for the Cleveland and Detroit auditions....

I may consider something of that nature. Of course, next month is the Bored's 8th birthday, and I usually do something to mark the event...earendel wrote:Thanks, lb. Subject: To MyBigFatFabulousBrain... You've gone too far!!!!!
Enough is enough. Stop bashing me and my fellow WWTBAM contestants. If you
think you're so f***ing smart, get your sorry a** on the show so that way you
could reach $1 million without using any lifelines and we could all bow and pay
respect to your "oversized" brain.
Not to speak for my fellow contestants, but I'm sure everyone tried their best.
Some of us did better (money wise) than others, but we did not insult or
degrade each other after the show, no matter what our individual end result
was.I spend much of the (2) days I was at the ABC studios with my fellow (5)
contestants, all of which you've insulted.
If it was up me, you would be banned from this bored permanently.
Monday morning quaterbacking is one thing but your commentary is not required
or desired and I feel your commentary was way out of line and futhermore, I
feel personally insulted.
Apparently your brain is big (by your standards), more than likely to make up
for other undersized parts of your anatomy.
Anytime you want to have a mano-y-mano trivia contest, bring it on baby, unless
you couldn't fit your big oversized egotistical head through the door. I'm
talking real stakes baby. Lay those dead presidents on the table. BRING IT ON!!!!
Bottom line: I made $16k in twenty minutes. Does your job pay that well? I think not.
And speaking of, I don't think greyhound_dude has joined us over here yet...
