But they're not blank posts. They're invisible posts!

I made uly's previously invisible reply appear. I could make aj's all appear as well, but then by leaving them as is, the thread will be easier to follow three years from now....

Except for Austin I am surprised by the entire top ten. Most of those cities may be nice places to live, but you wouldn't want to visit there.

That is a common saying about Houston: terrible place to visit, great place to live. I'm starting to agree.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I've been to each of the cities and lived in Sacramento for two years and Boise for 15 (sort of). I'd say that's part of the desirability of each place: they're not tourist towns.

You could write a bunch of one word responses to each of his posts.

Well, work got in the way today and now it's too late. I can't post from work and even if I could, I didn't have a spare minute today.

I think I have some catching up to do. I'm reverting back to my normal quiet personality and I need to get out of that quickly!! :)

It's not the 10 best places to visit, it's the 10 best places to live.

I would disagree with your last statement.

I'm still disconsolate that Fayetteville was not North Carolina. Thanks, tmitss!

The only people who like living in Fayetteville, NC are the tattoo artists and prostitutes. :P

As long as New Jersey keeps the pompous blowhards and pseudointellectual jackasses, that seems like a fair trade. :P :o :D :D

There are lots of people who love Fayetteville and there might even be some on this board.

I am amazed. It wasn't all that long ago that they were calling y'all the fattest city in the country. Without actually counting any fat people, I hasten to add.

As for Colorado Springs, I would put Boulder ahead of it, but without knowing the criteria, I hasten to add.

I guess that others like Uly and Kusch can weigh in on whether Omaha is a tourist town. It sure seems to be a tourist town, though admittedly not to the scale of Orlando, Chicago, or NYC.

We sure get a bunch of tourists every June for the College World Series. The zoo has been ranked the best zoo in the nation by some and a consensus top 5 zoo, so it draws huge numbers regionally and nationally. We will have huge numbers for the US Olympic Swimming Trials in a few weeks.

As for living here, there are only a few cities for which I would even consider leaving Omaha, regardless of the career opportunities.

I do like Colorado Springs.

The longest year of my life was the weekend that I stayed in Des Moines.

Notice that the article has a link for each listed city. The reasons given for each are remarkably unconvincing.

RevDodd needs to come over here and toss some boiled peanuts at some folks. Or, "bowled" peanuts, as they say in Fayettenam. Or, "Fettville".
