Lyrically Speaking - 2/14/20

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Fri Feb 14, 2020 3:35 am

Chain, chain, chaaaaaaaaain.... chain of sooooooongs. OK, I can't sing. But I can string together a killer chain. These songs all link together to form a chain, a chain so pretty that it actually loops back around to go on forever and ever. If you know how the chain works, then this game is going to be a whole lot easier for you...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. You know I love you.
I'll always be true,
So please...

2. Come along with me
We'll dance until morning 'til there's just you and me
And maybe, if the music is right
I'll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night

3. Thruppence and sixpence every day
Just to drive to my baby
Thruppence and sixpence each day
Cause I drive my baby every way

4. That's the way the whole thing started
Silly but it's true
Thinkin' of a sweet romance
Beginning in a queue

5. So many loves have gone wrong
For so many hearts are in pain
Just like us, they were too young
And they played a losing game

6. You can take me anytime you like
I'll be around if you think you might
Love me baby
And hold me tight

7. Daylight turns into night
We try and find the answer, but it's nowhere in sight
It's always the same, and you know who's to blame

8. Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up
And how do we spend our time knowin' nobody gives us a damn

9. Now first it wasn't easy
Changin' Rock & Roll and minds
And things were getting shaky
I thought I'd have to leave it behind

10. And I like fast girls
I don't know what's come over me
They make me do things
I would not ordinarily

11. I can't wait forever
Even though you want me to
I can't wait forever
To know if you'll be true

12. Mirror mirror on the wall,
Shovel chestnuts in my path
Please keep on up with the nuts
So I don't get in aftermath

13. Getting over you was slow
They say old lovers can be good friends
But I never thought I'd really see you,
I'd really see you again

14. Count the stars in a summer sky
That fall without a sound
And then pretend that you can't hear
These teardrops coming down

Kroxquo Bonus: Give me three songs with artist that chain together like the songs in this game do. 3 points for a regular chain, 5 points if the chain loops back around.

Mr. little, me and Wiki have been playing only on the days that we think we know an answer (or would have a really good guess), as we don't want to make you slog through a selection of dog jokes, unless they might be really good jokes, of course. And, we didn't play on the "innuendo" day because neither of us knows what that means, and we looked it up in the dictionary, which wasn't much help. If that means -- and it does! -- that we're in last place in the standings, we're okay with that, because we still get to PLAY! Yay. Fortunately, we do know an answer today.

Love Me Do, by our favorite Beatles! This is one of our regular singing songs, because we can sing all the words that rhyme with "oo" with enthusiasm and clarity, as it's one of our very best syllables in the language of two-footers.

Wiki did find a picture of the kind of chains that we wear. Wiki said she wants to wear ten of them at a time so she could tell people she was a rapper, when she was not trying to imitate Mr. George Harrison. I said they would think she meant "yapper" and say yes, we knew you were a yapper! Wiki didn't think that was funny at all, but that's Wiki for ya.

Love me Do -- The Beatles

2. Come along with me
We'll dance until morning 'til there's just you and me
And maybe, if the music is right
I'll meet you tomorrow, sort of late at night

Do You Believe in Magic -- Lovin' Spoonful

3. Thruppence and sixpence every day
Just to drive to my baby
Thruppence and sixpence each day
Cause I drive my baby every way

Magic Bus -- The Who

4. That's the way the whole thing started
Silly but it's true
Thinkin' of a sweet romance
Beginning in a queue

Bus Stop -- The Hollies

5. So many loves have gone wrong
For so many hearts are in pain
Just like us, they were too young
And they played a losing game

Stop Me When It's Over?

6. You can take me anytime you like
I'll be around if you think you might
Love me baby
And hold me tight

Over My head -- Fleetwood Mac

7. Daylight turns into night
We try and find the answer, but it's nowhere in sight
It's always the same, and you know who's to blame

Head Games -- Foreigner

8. Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up
And how do we spend our time knowin' nobody gives us a damn

Games People Play -- Alan Parsons Project

9. Now first it wasn't easy
Changin' Rock & Roll and minds
And things were getting shaky
I thought I'd have to leave it behind

Play that Funky Music -- Wild Cherry

10. And I like fast girls
I don't know what's come over me
They make me do things
I would not ordinarily

Music all the Time?

11. I can't wait forever
Even though you want me to
I can't wait forever
To know if you'll be true

Time Won't Let Me -- The Outsiders

12. Mirror mirror on the wall,
Shovel chestnuts in my path
Please keep on up with the nuts
So I don't get in aftermath

13. Getting over you was slow
They say old lovers can be good friends
But I never thought I'd really see you,
I'd really see you again

I Go Crazy -- Paul Davis

Kudos to those who completed their chains to link around for five points! To get the three points, the last word of the title of your first song had to be the first word in the title of the second song... and the last word in the title of the second song be the first word in the title of the third song...

I figured Marley would be a popular guy for the IB. After careful consideration, I'm giving the IBB to Esto because of how cheesy Hands Across America was... and because that picture was the same one I found and used in my blog post I did about Hands seven years ago. Incidentally, the girl on the right in that photo found my blog post and left a comment where she was stupidly excited to see that picture was online...

JJC Points:

Vandal gets 2 JJC points for extending his chain, and for corporate jargon that eludes me...

Panic gets 3 JJC points for Stop Over by The Jets and for the food chain... which took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out how it was chain related...

frank gets 2 JJC points for adding nuts to the chain, and for looking great in a wifebeater...

TBone gets 3 JJC points for the best Marley...

Sprots gets a JJC point for wearing a horse head around her neck...

Lizbit and WIki gets 2 JJC points for their rapper chains...

jarnon gets a JJC point for Marley ripping the lock off some freshman's locker...

Krox gets a JJC point for being too modest to share his acting pictures...

mrk gets 2 JJC points for being the weakest link...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for double linking his Krox, and for Alice in chains...

melly gets 2 JJC points for rhinestone smurf...

Esto gets 3 JJC points for the stupidest charity event of the 80's...

Late players who had three days to play usually don't get JJC points... but since Anon is so fascinated with Mitzi (and really, who wouldn't be?), I gave him one JJC point...
