Lyrically Speaking - 2/7/20

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Thu Feb 06, 2020 9:49 pm

It's time for the LSWE game so many of you love to hate. Yes, it's the short snippet game... where you'll only get a few words (or word, singular!) of the lyrics to go on. As best as I've been able to verify, these short phrases are unique to only one song that was widely popular. Remember, you have all weekend if you wish to try and (w)rack your brains on these mindbending lyrics. Good luck, you'll need it....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

GREASE/FRANKIE VALLI - An annoying song, considering the entire show is about following the herd. The play knew that; the movie didn't. I absolutely hate the movie because they trashed the wistfulness of the play, and even more because now every stage production of Grease follows the movie.

I thought Wiki might know #13, because she likes sheep the way I like chickens, but she says she doesn't know the song.

"I don't count sheep," she said. "I just know when they're all there."

I tried to be reasonable. "That's because you don't have any sheep right now."

"Doesn't matter. If I had a dozen sheep -- or a hundred or a thousand -- I would just know."

I can sort of understand her position. If someone came up to us and said, "I am the eggman," I would be particularly suspicious of him and I would chase him away. Watching out for eggs, the future chickababies of my hens, if I had hens, is just part of the standard protection package that comes along with my volunteer services as Guardian of the Free Rangers.

So, I pick "I am the eggman" as our lyrical snippet, which is from I Am the Walrus, by the Beatles (of course.) I've never heard any other songs about being a walrus either.

Here is the image for "ain't counting sheep" because there's no need to count:

JJC Points:

Sprots gets a JJC point for one of the smallest images in the history of the Image Bonus. If I gotta get my magnifying glass out, you can forget an IBB....

Vandal gets 2 JJC points for praising whoredom...

Weasel gets 3 JJC points for dirty Hamilton and for dogs impressing bitches with their tongues...

frank gets a supermax for the rant on Grease (I wasn't even aware the play came first) and for bears being bears...

ear gets 2 JJC points for Kroxing from The Unicorn, which recently became an occasional Mecca earworm...

Panic gets 2 JJC points for clumsy gnomes falling off of roofs (Why is it roofs and not rooves?)...

TBone gets 3 JJC points for Dolph, Moe Hailstone, and being hornier than the average bear...

Beebs gets a supermax for Billy Bob in pantyhose...

Lizbit and Wiki get 2 JJC points for minding the sheep...

jarnon gets a JJC point for gnomes who know to never play leapfrog with a unicorn...

mrk gets 3 JJC points for Muskrat Love, a multipurpose dummy, and for his Krox! I actually included "16 Parkside Lane" in one of these games seven years ago... only to find out that Harry Chapin later recorded a sequel to "Taxi" titled.... "Sequel," which also mentions that address. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to make that mistake... and yes, I gave you the 2 Krox points anyway.

melly gets a JJC point for a very sloppy nose lick...

Anon gets 3 JJC points for more NGC appreciation, and for confusing Hackensack with beautiful downtown GC...
