Then they elected a charismatic socialist, Hugo Chavez, who, like Bernie, promised a utopia on earth. Look where they are now, BJ. They are pretty much a dictatorship under Nicky Maduro. That's what Bernie wants. Bernie has more ties to Russia, (or should I say the USSR) than trump could ever hope for.

And you have yet to mention one specific policy of Bernie Sanders' that you consider socialistic. "Pretty much all of them" is not an answer; it's a copout. Just labelling Sanders a socialist or communist so you can compare him with Chavez is a copout as well.

For the record, I'm not a Sanders supporter either. But that seems to be the stock Republican answer when they don't want to discuss the specifics of Democratic legislation (which on issue after issue, substantial majorities of the American public support). They just copout by shouting socialist or Communist about Sanders, Warren, or anyone else they don't like.

Martin Weissgerber is a Bernie staffer in South Carolina who can't wait to send Republicans to the Gulag and to guillotine the rich.

Most interesting to me is his praise of the Belomorkanal, which was a canal dug from the White Sea to Leningrad. AKA, the White Sea/Baltic Canal.

Fortuitously, that is the section I am currently reading in Gulag Archipelago.

Weissgerber notes that it was dug by hand like that was a good thing. He obviously discounts the horrors of digging a canal by hand through 2 arctic winters.

"Belomorkanal" should be as infamous as Auschwitz and it is a shame that it is not.

Supposedly, he spent a semester studying primary sources about the canal. I noted with interest that he cites an account written by a thief who praised the system after his release.

Well, I doubt how much reading into the Gulags he has actually done. Gulag survivors note (even outside of Solzhenitsyn) that those sentenced as thieves ganged up together and got each other the best jobs and rations.

And just to pick a nit-He said "Belomorkanal" was the first Gulag. I would disagree. I previously mentioned "Solovki" which was the genesis of the Gu;ag system and started earlier than the canal.
