On a personal note, knowing that he viewed his use of smokeless tobacco as a cause of his cancer, I wrote to Mr. Sullivan about five years ago because Son-of-Spiff had been a smokeless tobacco user for many years. I asked him to write a letter to S-o-S about his experiences with the cancer and treatments, and he did. I'm not sure if that helped or not (I suspect his wife was a bigger influence), but he did stop dipping. He still goes through waaaay too much Nicorette, but I hope that's a better long-term solution than his previous course.

Re: RIP Pat Sullivan
Pat Sullivan was a great football player but an ever better man. Always humble, generous and a great role model.
