Baseball Hall of Fame voting
The Modern Era Committee is considering Dwight Evans, Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Thurman Munson, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Lou Whitaker, and Marvin Miller for the Hall.
Twelve votes of the 16 members are required.
Results to be announced on December 8.
This is the committee that voted in Harold Baines last year, so who knows what's in store for this year.
I think John, Whitaker and Miller should get in, but one could make a case for any/all of them.
It's amazing how similar this is to voting for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

They really need to elect Marvin Miller. I cannot fathom a universe where Bud Selig deserves to be in the Hall but Marvin Miller does not. --Bob

Elvis never violated the Prime Directive.

You don't think he ever benefited from payola? Or anyone in the R&RHOF?

There's a clearly posted rule in every arena, stadium, amphitheater, and concert hall dressing room in the world warning that you'll be banned from rock and roll for life if you get caught benefiting from payola? Damn, guess we better clean house in Cleveland then...

Re: Baseball Hall of Fame voting
Marvin Miller is the only one of those who clearly should be in the Hall. Probably won't happen though. The Committee tends to be a bit collegial toward people they played with, which is how we ended up with Harold Baines in the Hall of Fame. All of the others have a better case for the Hall than Baines, but then again he was one of the worst inductees ever so that bar is pretty low.
