I'm on the Blog Tour

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Fri Nov 02, 2018 7:56 am

I'm kind of excited about this. One of the authors whose books I've reviewed and with whom I'm fairly friendly hired a publicist to organize a blog tour for his new release out this month. He suggested to her that she contact me, even though I don't have a regular book review blog. So, I'll be participating and I will revamp my website next week to highlight the review of this book. Here's the banner for the tour (I'm on November 29).

Sounds interesting but what does that mean for you? Will you be in front of your computer "touring" or physically attending events?
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

I'll be writing a review of this book and posting it on my website (I'm in the process of redesigning the site a bit to accommodate this) and then, on November 29, the publicist will send out various notifications on twitter and facebook and so forth suggesting that people check out my website and my review. (She may do a Q&A session with me as well.)

What I get out of this is increased traffic to my site and a lot of contacts with people (like the other 29 bloggers who will be reviewing this book) that I can hopefully leverage into publicity when I finish my own book.

I read a book of his a while back called The Good Samaritan and really enjoyed it. Well, maybe enjoyed wasn't the proper word for this book, so let's say I thought it was a great read. It was a somewhat unique premise (to me) and I didn't know if it could really be pulled off properly, but damned if he didn't do it!

The Shyamalan, or plot twist you must discover for yourself, was obvious right from the start but it really didn't detract from the read at all.

So much of the time when you're reading a book, you think "no way they're going there" and they don't. This book is full of "no way they're going there. but they do.

My favorite part of the book (spoilered in case he might pick up some new readers here) was

Spoiler
There were no happy endings and no real resolutions. There was no redemption, no deus ex machina, no triumph for the quasi-protagonist. So much of the time when you're reading a book, you think "no way they're going there" and they don't. This book is full of "no way they're going there". but they do.

The current book is a police procedural with a number of twists. I don't think it's quite as good as The Good Samaritan, but it's a good read for those who like that sort of thing. Today is actually the official publication day for the book, although my review will be towards the end of the month. I'm very excited and flattered that he reached out to me on this.

One of John Marrs's other books that I reviewed has just been picked up by Netflix as a series:

I'm really looking forward to this.
