I almost had to smack someone

#1 Post by christie1111 » Fri Oct 14, 2011 11:27 am

I had a little talk with her instead.

I guess I was not paying enough attention to her talking. She said 'I think we should not be on our computers or IM so we can pay full attention.' She then had the nerve to reach over in a meeting and push my screen down and close my computer. This was after a break during which she read outloud to everyone an internet story about Twitters about redheads in England (totally not connected to anything with the meeting). She is about 25 years old and in the Claims part of team so no reporting relationship.

I was answering an IM from one of the plants who was having an issue with a product. She could see it since It was being projected in the room. I had typed that I was in a meeting and could I get back to them on the issue after the meeting. Nothing I was concerned about anyone seeing.

After the meeting I went and spoke to her and said she should NEVER do that to me (or anyone else) ever as I found it incredibly rude. I mentioned that since I was addressing a plant issue, which is part of my job, and not playing on the internet or Twitter, that she was totally out of line.

She did have enough sense to apologize.

It's not often I'm at a loss for words, but...

I'd be in jail by now if I were in the workforce. As a habitual repeat offender. People like that need to die and would not be missed. Really.

I'm going to intercept the FedEx truck when it brings mini the new element she ordered for her oven so she has to shell out for labor as well as parts! I'm not happy enough knowing I finally got the Frankendishwasher to totally conk out on her yesterday so she had to hand wash an entire load plus everything she used to cook dinner last night! Too bad she made pot roast so it was only one pot, but the night before was roast chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes so she used up a ton of dishes and woke up to find the dishwasher hadn't run! BWAHAHAHA!!!!

Today's coincidence department: The FedEx driver just knocked on the door as I was reading this with a package for this address, but addressed to a name who has never lived here -- to my knowledge anyway.

It's a computer bought with purloined PayPal funds. You're supposed to forward it to Russia and you'll earn $35....

I'm confused. Why were your IMs being projected during the meeting? If you were projecting them in order to share the message from the plant with everyone, why would your co-worker think you shouldn't be on your computer?

I was projecting a list that we had been talking about but our company has an internal IM system and they pop up on your screen if you forget to turn the 'do not disturb' thingie on. So I just telling the person in Europe that I would get back to them as soon as I was done the meeting instead of ignoring them. If I had remembered to turn on the DND thingie, it would not have popped up. Also when that icon shows up next to your name people are aware that you probably are presenting.

Good thing it wasn't your usual squirrel porn or incriminating photos of chief Pootatuck and the Panther cheerleaders.

That wouldn't happen at my company.

Meetings are the only time anyone gets any work done.
