Boy how time flies! It's hard to believe that this is already the tenth and final week of the 2011 LSWE.... and thus, today I present the final Fill in the Blank Monday. While there's been many different specific themes in FitBM this year, many of which were stolen from Krox's upcoming summer LS, today's game is about as generic as possible. We're just looking for numbers today. All of the blanks in the lyrics below can be filled in with a number, which you must pull from the vagueness of your own brains.....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 1 point for each correctly filled in blank.....
Spoiler
1. Man, it`s a hot one
Like _2001__ inches from the midday sun
I hear you whisper and the words
Melt everyone but you stay so cool
ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

2. __73_ men sailed up
From the San Francisco Bay,
Rolled off of their ship
And here's what they had to say.
I think this is a trick. Seattle Mariners?

3. She knows she got everything
A woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she use, the things she use
_6_ - __4_ - __3_, what a winning hand!
Las Vegas 51s

... Why am I trying to play my own baseball game?...

4. But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of __quite a few___ vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
Reno Aces???

Ok, time to try playing LS.

5. Well there's _97__ crosses planted in the courthouse yard
For __97_ families who lost _97__ farms
RAIN ON THE SCARECROW - JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP

6. My Maseratti does _105?_
I lost my license, now I don't drive

7. Out where the river broke
The bloodwood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels
Steam in _____ degrees

8. The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of _40,000_ years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
THRILLER - MICHAEL JACKSON

9. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral.
The church bell chimed till it rang _12?__ times

10. _____ years have come and gone.
And she's seen a lot of tears
Of the ones who come in
They really seem to need her there.

11. ______ deadbeats living in the back street
north east west south all in the same house
sitting in a back room waiting for the big boom
I'm in a bedroom waiting for my baby

12. Well my father was a gambler down in Georgia,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin' down highway _101__

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that mentions a number somewhere in the lyrics (The more obscure the number, the better).
a later-80s song from ELO called "Calling America" mentioning flying over on a "747"

5 Point Bonus: The number in Song #2 was connected to San Francisco in another way in 2001. How?
Time to go up and change my guess as that was the year Barry Bonds broke the single season HR record, so I filled in his HR total.

Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image - 73

3. She knows she got everything
A woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she use, the things she use
____ - _____ - _____, what a winning hand!
Brick House - Commodores - 36-24-36 (And yes, each number was worth a point, so this was a 5 point song!)

4. But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of ______ vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harem - 16

5. Well there's _____ crosses planted in the courthouse yard
For _____ families who lost _____ farms
Rain on the Scarecrow - John Cougar Mellencamp - 97 (Just one point for knowing all three numbers were 97's...)

6. My Maseratti does _____
I lost my license, now I don't drive
Life's Been Good - Joe Walsh - 185

7. Out where the river broke
The bloodwood and the desert oak
Holden wrecks and boiling diesels

Beds Are Burning - Midnight Oil - 45 (My Dad swears this is the same band that did Rock the Casbah.... it's one of our running jokes between us...)

8. The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of ______ years
And grizzly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
Thriller - Michael Jackson - 40,000 (Since many people saw fit to point out that this was actually the Vincent Price part, it gives me an opportunity to let off a rant about something that bothers the hell out of me. When was it passed into law that every hip hop song has to have a guest hip hop artist on it? Along with the fact that I don't know many hip hop songs, one reason I don't use very many in LS is that the artist is always "Grandmaster Dumbass, featuring L'il Ballz and Dip Diddy", or something like that. Can't artists these days do their own damn songs by themselves without having to bring a posse into the recording studio with them!?!?!? Fanny, you're my hip hop lifeline, what gives here?)

9. In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed,
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral.

11. ______ deadbeats living in the back street
north east west south all in the same house
sitting in a back room waiting for the big boom
I'm in a bedroom waiting for my baby
Wild Wild West - Escape Club - 47 (My forgetting to put them in the pseudo-OHW game allowed me to add them to this one....)

12. Well my father was a gambler down in Georgia,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a Greyhound bus
Rollin' down highway _____
Ramblin' Man - Allman Brothers - 41

5 Point Bonus: The number in Song #2 was connected to San Francisco in another way in 2001. How? - Barry Bonds set the single season homerun record with 73

Good plan!

Ha! If ignorance is worth JJCP, my first thought was "doesn't Mark McGuire have the home run record?", so I was trying to think of something more esoteric (although I knew it would have something to do with baseball stats because..... well, because I know you) but I decided the more likely scenario was that I was wrong and then I think I forced myself into some vague recollection of when that happened because I was not in favour of it.

Meanwhile, if I knew you gave JJCP to people for forgetting up, I wouldn't have gone back and fixed my spoiler. You should take away his JJCP anyway for neglecting to point out that you (aka your lyric site) misspelled Maserati. You should give me an extra one for now pointing out that you misspelled Procol Harum.

And I'm not even going to get into the travesty of not awarding anything for kroxing the Biz......

OMG, I would answer you but I can't because I'm still laughing like an idiot. If I hadn't wrapped up the SRA yesterday, this would be shoo-in. As it is, give yourself a supermax!

Why do I envision you with a ball cap tilted just so with the boyz outfitted in chains and grillz providing backup?

And now, live from G-Rock City! Presenting......

Grandmaster Dumbass, featuring L'il Ballz and Dip Diddy!!!!!1

Okay, now to be serious, I think it all started with the Lina Lamont/Kathy Selden bitchfest when Don Lockwood could see his chances of ripping off a piece of fresh fading fast and crabbed the whole deal, much to the consternation of R.F. Simpson.....

This ruling as later upheld in the case of Marni Nixon v. Tone Deaf 60s Starlets.

Grandmaster Dumbass, featuring L'il Ballz and Dip Diddy!!!!!1

I'm not so sure Poopyhead's gonna go along with the idea.....
