What is wrong with this picture? History teacher. Question that can be answered by knowing a little history.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:Alan Blaustein

Hmm. Might be time for another career change...
In addition to being a nation of geography nitwits we are rapidly becoming history nitwits as well.

I couldn't believe this contestant. Anyone who has ever watched a royal wedding knows that they are 5 hours ahead of us.
The Flander's Field question is a no-brainer since it was written by a Canadian soldier from Guelph, Ontario - city of my birth and only 20 miles away.
BTW - also home of Neve Campbell.

$16K: When I hear the word "poppies", I think of the VFW. That automatically eliminates A and C for me. Better PAF just to be sure. I am ashamed at Alan for not getting this one right. He's a history teacher!

They never did say what he did prior to changing over to teaching. But as I always say, I root for teachers.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:This is Alan's second year as a history teacher; he's a career changer.
<groan> Another lifeline dies in vain. I'd have gone with "C" because it was a show that we watched and I don't remember a housekeeper.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$4,000

My first thought was that as a history teacher he should have known this, but then again it's not really as much a history question as a literature question.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$16,000

No, he doesn't get off that easily, ear. Using a little geographical knowledge immediately eliminates A and C, and a little more historical knowledge should have told him that Flanders was a significant battlefield of the First World War, not the Second.earendel wrote:My first thought was that as a history teacher he should have known this, but then again it's not really as much a history question as a literature question.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$16,000

He's only been teaching history for two years, so maybe he can be given a little - JUST a little - slack.MarleysGh0st wrote:No, he doesn't get off that easily, ear. Could also be he teaches only US History, as non-PC as that might be these days. I still agree with Marley, this isn't that hard to deduce.earendel wrote:He's only been teaching history for two years, so maybe he can be given a little - JUST a little - slack.MarleysGh0st wrote:No, he doesn't get off that easily, ear. Shouldn't one learn history before starting to teach it?earendel wrote: He's only been teaching history for two years, so maybe he can be given a little - JUST a little - slack.
