I was rooting very hard for Mr. James! He and I have a lot in common in the legs department. He took his first steps faster than I did, though, and I give him my greatest respect for that. He may be even braver and tougher than me. Maybe learning to walk again is a teeny bit easier when you have half as many legs to deal with, but he is a great inspiration to a lot of two-footers and four-footers.

I wanted him to win a hundred kazillion dollars. I would send him that much if my mom would let me use her credit card.

Mr. James, if you ever see this, I do send you warm snuggles and wet kisses.

But world geography may not be the strongest subject for this otherwise brilliant man. Geelong sounds Swedish? Really? Maybe he was thinking of the isle of Gotland . . .

I may have had an advantage on this one because I've been looking at a lot of maps of Australia lately in connection with a trip I'm planning. So I remembered that there's a city called Wollongong that's near Sydney; and Geelong seemed to have a similar ending. Also, although they are not place names, Billabong and Goolagong -- famous Aussie names both -- came to mind. So I would have gone for Oz. (I think that in the back of my mind, I may also have remembered hearing somewhere that DeRossi was Australian).

Give the transcribers a break. We all know what year it was and having done some transcripts in the past,
when the show actually aired in this market, I know how difficult and time consuming it is. Believe me, it's
a thankless job and the pay isn't all that good either.

You're damn right Annie. James was a nice guy who tried to teach me about Star Trek after he was shocked that I didn't know who Gene Roddenberry was. In my notes that I wrote that day I labeled James as "Tough Dude" because that's exactly what he was. i wish he'd done better b/c he deserved it...

Sorry, I have to share this too. Going through my notes today I came across this transcribed conversation that took place on the train ride home from the set with my mom:

Clem's Mom: "Boy are you going to look stupid tomorrow, they've got a contestant who's raising his sisters, another who's playing for his passed on mom and anther who wasn't supposed to walk again! And you....have weird shoes."

Clem: (Grinning Stupidly) But they are AWESOME weird shoes

Clem's Mom puts her hand to her face and shakes her head slowly in shame.

Clem continues to grin stupidly.

So all marley has to do is buy some weird shoes in order to get on the show? I bet pea could lend him some.

I'm pretty sure it's not Egypt. Beyond that I can't be certain, so it's time to pull out a lifeline. Since this is a pop culture sort of question, I'll ATA and hope for a good result.
